There was a new one recently, drawn in semiconductor layers, each layer smaller than the wavelength of the light it was bending; the light waves then encountered multiple layers at once, and "slid" sideways without bending - therefore, no refraction, just perfect transparency. Think it worked in IR and visible light, but I'm not sure...Can't find a link, but these metamaterials will also be a boon to optics and telecom, because with a negative index of refraction you don't need to grind a lens to bend light.
