I really don't use it, but my sister (who's a pain in the ass) does. Apparently whenever she uses google on IE, something weird happens. For example, let's say she types in star trek as her search term. The first link that appears is to startrek.com. But when she clicks on the link, she ends up in some porno website, or on ebay, or some other website selling time shares. And it happens on all search engines on IE. I don't have the same problem on Firefox. Is it this normal IE or have I inadvertently downloaded something bad which is affecting IE?

I think you may have the coolwebsearch program. It's a browser hijacker that will take you to porn sites and occasionally (depending on version) change your homepage to one of thier affiliates.
CoolWeb Shredder
I can vouch that this program completely removes CWS, I've used it myself a few times. According to Google the new versions of Spyware Doctor also removes it, but CWShredder is totally free and is specifically designed to eliminate the CWS program.
I also recommend AVG Free Edition AVG FREE
It's very useful.

Thanks for the links. It's not CoolWeb, but it works much like a browser high jacker. I don't know if the AVG Programs will destroy the spyware, but at least it's a start.
And yes, a sister

Yes...your feelings for her are strong. If you will not be turned to the Darkside, prahaps she...?
I'm currently trying (for like three days) to kill some shit in my computer called Ultimate Fixer- crap shows up like a pop-up Microsoft security update (right alongside mt Java and normal computer update), but is actually an invasive mallware turd that I almost certainly got from a downloaded Stehen King audio novel (why do I bother with Kazaa anymore?).
Think this free thinger will fix it?

AVG anti spyware really helped. Maybe you should download that first.
Incidently I also had a similar malware program which also attempted to scan my computer whenever I used IE. Jesus, why does IE suck so bad?
