Casting my mind back over the past ten years, I can't actually recall any Forum member who explicitly stated their location as being NYC. . .

The question is, can we consider the location canonical since it wasn't aired in an episode? And does it conflict with any previously stated location for that time period?
What part of NYC are you in? I was there last year and thought it was incredible. But I would never want to live there.

Strictly speaking, I grew up in western CT. But it's inasmuch NY as makes no difference (as per this map) But I spent so much time in The City growing up that it's home to me. My internal map is 15 yewars out of date, thouygh. Anyeay, I'll be primarily in Manhattan, staying with a friend up near 200th St.No plans made so I've the entire week to play.

NYC was shown in that unnecessary, Nazi Alien time travel episode in "Star Trek: Enterprise" as it was known by then.

It was also the place where Edith Keeler was run over by that truck, allowing America and its allies to defeat said Nazis.

There was also something about Daleks and the Empire State Building, so I'd watch out for that if I were you.

Of course, when it comes to New York, there's the simple matter of escaping therefrom...

Well, it may come to New York on 1-18-08, but I don't think anyone's figured out what "it" is yet.

Heheh it's the LOST monster making a cameo. Is that REALLY the name of the film? I think I saw something where it was also (code?)-named Cloverfield or something.

Topic rez ftw!
I was looking up Cloverfield shit at 1-18-08.com, slusho.jp and slushozoom.com. I don't know if slushozoom.com is an official website or not. I know http://tagruato.jp/index2.php is a site about a fake company that has something to do with the movie.
http://slushozoom.com/ is the most odd. A few lines of text, some hidden white text, with photo links to random sites. If this site is for real and the sites are clues then suggest genetic engineering, one or two colossus type creatures, energy drinks and vaccines. Either the Slusho energy drink uses ingredients deep in the ocean which causes a mutation to those that drink it, or some kind of dormant monster was buried in the ocean and unearthed by drilling. Then again there's also probably a lot of disinformation to lead people in the wrong direction.
1-18-08.com is just photos and if you wait six minutes you hear a roar. A sixth photo has been added. It's of a Japanese cook with a recipe on the back. The last line calls for a 'deep sea nectar' which I guess is suppose to be in Slusho.
jamieandteddy.com with the password jllovesth goes to 3 videos. At the end of the first one the girl complains about a bladder infection. In the second a couple mentions of 6 (a number that seems to show up a lot) and a present not to be opened until December 9th (probably when a new trailer will be released). In the third, she's trying to open a bottle of Pepto-Bismol. Suggesting that Slusho has some kind of affect on the people that drink it, also brought up at the Tagruato site.

Sorry for the double post but the latest Cloverfield trailer is out. Seems it does involve people turning into monsters.
I'll take my Lil Lisa Slurry on the rocks.

With all the fan speculation I'll be glad to have guessed it following the clues.
The Tagruato site says they're opening another deep sea drilling platform in the north atlantic in September '07. If I had to guess, I'd say when they were drilling it awoken the monster and it made its way to NYC in January.
Also in the first preview the news shows the temp in the 60s at midnight in NYC during winter. Based off the slusho site, the secret ingredient in their drink discovered in deep sea drilling (an environment that would be very cold) has a reaction to warm weather. Possibly causing the mutation in people either turning them into mini-versions of the big monster or growing one inside them and going all Aliens like and bursting out of the chest. The only way to slow this would be to isolate infected people in a cold environment.
But hey, that's just my guess.
