W. Mark Felt has stepped forward after all these years and revealed himself as Deep Throat, and the Washington Post has confirmed it.

Wow. One mystery down, so many more to go. Impressive that the secret was able to kept for so long, though.

Amazing, and unexpected. I thought we would have to wait years for this.
I have just seen a clip of Pat Buchanan denouncing "Deep Throat," calling him a "criminal" and decrying him for revealing the information in "an election year." What a nut.

Okay, I know I'm supposed to be a history major, but who's W. Mark Felt?

He was the associate director of the FBI at the time.

Everyone is at one time or another, so not knowing his name is forgivable.

Presumably, Buchanan is referring to 1972.

I had always pictured Heather Graham as Deep Throat.

She's bony enough without one down her throat.

Felt?! Deep Throat was a Fed?! Never saw that coming. Not that I ever believed it was any of the main choices, certainly not Haig or anyone like that. I wonder how this corresponds with that college professor's class' project few years back. . .

This makes the "X-Files"-continuity look like a pile of shit. W. Mark Felt never pep-talked Mulder during his death and short stay in Native American limbo. I must shower long time.

I remember my dad telling me once when I was a wee pup that if it was ever revealed who Deep Throat was, the guy would turn up dead in a matter of days. I wonder if there would be any reason to have him whacked now, what with Nixon being dead and all.
Mmmmmm... Catherine Bell......

And, on that penultimate note: why reveal himself at all? He's not going to find a lot of sympathizers in this White House...

Hey, he wants to know what everyone would think of him before he passes on....
And yes, Pat Buchannan needs to be electroshocked. You mean to say that he actually supports real criminals?

A death of natural causes, maybe, which, even at 91, > a death of not-so-natural ones.

At that age, a quick, clean bullet to the head might seem > an agonizingly slow death by natural causes.

Oh come on, assassination? Honestly. I mean, think about the worst possible outcome for surviving perpetrators of Watergate. They might have to appear on Fox News Sunday! Or whatever replaced Crossfire! Maybe even Charlie Rose!! Oh man, what if G. Gordon Liddy says mean things about this guy on his radio show???
