Tonight we have to expect a very satisfying expansion of the mystery surrounding the spheres, and how they relate to why we don't know of the Expanse in the TOS/TNG eras. There seems to be some more shuttle action this time around. Hmm.

Running commentary...- Hey, this alien's castle/fortress has stained glass windows stolen from the Romulan Senate chamber!
- The anomalies that the ship has encountered so far are caused by the confluence of energies emitted from a second sphere that intersect the energies coming from the first they found a few weeks ago.
- I saw a few flickers as that section of hull blew out into space at the end of the second act... if that wasn't a forcefield (which it sure as heck shouldn't be), what was it? (After the break) Well, T'Pol mentions emergency bulkheads.
- I gotta admit... insulating the shuttlepod rather than the entire ship with Trellium-D. That lets them get into anomaly-infested territory protected, but not endangering T'Pol.
- Considering that there are some rather intense anomalies around this second sphere, I find it rather simple to assume that there are MORE spheres out there, and that there's a third sphere whose energies end up intersecting very close to the second sphere.
- Hey, was that a WARP STREAK EFFECT as the shuttlepod was heading out? Better not have been!
- In the shot just as the shuttle passed through the internal edge of the cloaking barrier, that yellow/green nebula in the background looked awfully similar to the one in the LAST sphere they visited...
- Okay, how the frell can that shuttlepod BOUNCE like that? I wasn't expecting to see the sphere crumple, but wouldn't the shuttlepod have SOME kind of damage, even a dent or something?
- Over fifty spheres? Fifty spheres that are apparently responsible for creating the Expanse itself? Hoooo, boy!
And next week, the damn World Series. Why do people get so excited about sports teams they never pay attention to during the rest of the year?

The shot of the shuttlepod leaving Enterprise for the planet was exceptionally well done.
Trip continues to be my favorite Enterprise character: his line tonight of "Awwww....Son of a bitch." as priceless! Probably the first profanity in Trek since STIV.
As to the shuttle bouncing like that: it makes sense- the Lunar Rover bounced the same was in low gravity. I also think they were licku the pod sisint land on it's back! Archer was portrayed nicely this episode and ANY chance to see Hoshi is better eye candy than a whole season of T'Pol in heat.
I'm glad we got an episode without a villan: I really felt bad for the poor telepathic sap. You'd think he'd have asked for passage off that planet though...

I don't recall any profanilty in ST4, but Data did curse in Generations and Trip back in the series pilot.

A moi!
-Trip indeed said "son of a bitch" at the end of the premiere episode, when Archer told him and T'pol that their mission was going to continue.
-We start in Hoshi's quarters - wasn't she in junior officer's quarters before? Now she's got windows, an adjoining room and everything. Her sink and mirror are different than those in T'Pol's quarters, and are mounted ont he opposite wall. I wonder if it's on the same side of the ship to which she moved in the second epsiode.
-Archer spends much of his off time in the command centre.
-Starfleet regs state that a captain will be part of all first contact missions. Hm!
-Boy, the FX people are getting good at the anomaly stuff! The sparks mentioned earlier are inconclusive, but they could easily NOT be forcefields and simply sparks and energy discharges instead.
-We finally see the top of the photon(ic) torpedo rack - it's closed, so the rack can only hold five or so. This may be indicative of their total payload.. Otherwise, where are they kept? I was sorta hoping the rack would extend up into the ceiling. Perhaps the rack is temporary storage for maintenance? As it stands, the armory set SHOULD be one of two, and the photon(ic) torpedo tube is a single forward mount that we know of.
-After finding the sphere, the sensor relays are offline and Trip can't fix 'em as they're on the underside. Why did they have to land? They brought EV suits with them, and they have an airlock.
-This is the first time we see the shuttlepod landing dear. In previous landings, as far as I can remember they simply plop the pod onto whatever surface they're on.
-Hoshi at one point mentions that Enterprise has "over eighty people" aboard. This is the first indication of the crew count since they left with the MACOs, and the odds are it hasn't changed much. If the crew count is about the same as they had before, they must have lost some crew somewhere. But where? The science department? Of course, this could be a writing gaffe...
-The speculation is that the spheres have created the Expanse, anomalies, clouds and all. But why? Dun dun dun!

The flashes in the hull breach didn't look like anything more to me than electrical arcs resulting from the fact that a huge piece of the ship had suddenly been blown apart.
As for the crew, there may have been some who requested to stay behind on Earth before the ship headed to the Expanse. Also, they may have had to clear out seom quarters to give the MACOs someplace to stay.

Nope. Remember back in the second episode, she wanted to switch quarters, because the stars were streaking in the wrong direction while the ship was traveling at warp!

I think the crew count thing can be solved by Hoshi not caring about how many MACOs are on board and never taking the time to count and add them into her crew count... thus over 80 people is Enterprise's crew [including the replacements for people that transfered off] + the MACOs.

this is probably deliberate.. previous to the Xinfdi arc, they said ENT's crew was approximately 80, then you subtract x crewmembers that stayed behind in 'The Expanse' and then add in y MACOs.. so NX-01's crew depends on variables the producers are reluctant to lay down yet, is now 80-x+y.. this means if they want to increase or decrease the MACO count to fit their story they can

Don't forget that the hull plating has some sort of defensive energy field... Having it pop like a baloon SHOULD caus a few sparks.
The shuttle malfunction was a hoot.. just a little real world problem, in the perfect trek universe. I can just imagine how I would react, to seeing my ride take off by itself.
A little scraped paint would have been nice.. like the meteor damage from the last episode.

The new screenshots. It's become a rather large set because of Sato's rather interesting flashback scene, which includes some previously unseen stuff, and various bits and pieces of the other seasons.

You're forgetting O'Brien's exclamation in (DS9 "Time's Orphan").

Well, for a US audience, they probably don't consider it profanity if it's in a foreign language like French or British.

"British" is a language now.
But, to be picky, there was at least one "Son of a bitch" in ST V, "Shit" in Generations, "Bastard" in Insurrection, and, er, others.

Oh, and T'Pol thinks Archer smells. And that from a Vulcan with botox-lips!
