That is spectacular. Definitely goes into my rotation... I've been looking for good-sized sci-fi backgrounds lately; most of my stuff has been coming from APoD. (Which is admittedly quite a good source, it's just gotten a little monotonous. I mean, how many colorful glowing clouds can you have?)

That is a beauty. And I don't even like Stargate...

I have a Star Wars wallpaper that I ripped with extreme prejudice from Wookieepedia.

Scifi-Meshes is a great place for more work like that. Just have a rummage through the 3D or 2D gallery forums.

Yeah, Scifi-Meshes would probably be nice, if they didn't demand your personal information in order to look at stuff.

God. That's awful in a way that Star Wars should never be.

While were swapping desktops here, does anyone have a high res version of the crashed NX-02 from last years SOTL calender?

I think it's a bit unrealistic. That's why I like the Daedalus I posted up top - very realistic.

Personal information? I think all they need is an e-mail address (but not a free one like hotmail). Of course, it's been a while since I registered. Doesn't bother me, but then again I also contribute to the site.

Same here, it's no different than joining any other message board. I think they restrict viewing images to members to cut down on people stealing work and claiming it as their own.

Well of course it's not realistic, it's a drawing!

Maybe I'm just going to different sites, but I don't feel the need to give someone my e-mail address just so I can have the "privilege" of looking at THEIR pictures. That's my point. I'm all for registering in order to post, but just to look at their stuff, half of which is crap? They might as well just wall off the whole forum and not let anyone in to look at the messages, either.
And that anti-plagiarism argument is bullshit. If I wanted to steal something, I'd sign up for an account, THEN steal the work. There's no way to link an image to an account.
I'm not saying that I "deserve" to see their stuff... it's certainly their right to do whatever they want, regardless of whether I understand their logic. I just think it's silly.

It looks like a Photoshop filter(s) and a mish mash of images from RTOJ crammed into one scene. Dont look like it's a drawing though.
