Originally posted by MIB: [QB] Please pardon my spelling. I'm not a very good speller. Also, some of my sources for information are a bit contradictory to each other. For example a accoding to the game X-wing, the B-wing carrys a standard load of 12 proton torpedos, but in Star Wars: The Ultimate Guide to Vhicles and Vessels, the B-wing carrys a standard load of 8 torpedos. So please forgive me if the info isn't quite right in some parts. A-Wing starfighter: Weapons: 2 Laser cannons, and 2 cuncussion missle launchers (with 6 cuncussion missles each) Shields strength: 50 SBD Hull strength: 15 RU Top speed: 120 MGLT Notes: The A-wing starfighter is the rebellion's fastest and most manuverable fighter. It's primary use is for hit and fade assults. The A-wing's shield stregth is fair, but it's hull is vary fragile. This makes even the most minor hit to an unshielded A-wing potentally fatal, so a pilot has to use the ships speed and agility to avoid enemy fire as much as possible. One of the most famous manuevers for the A-wing is called the "A-wing slash" What happens is that a fleet of rebel starfighters would engage an enemy capital ship. Once the capital ship launches it's fighters for protection the X-wing and Y-wing in the fleet will divert the Emperial fighter's attention while the A-wings move in and tear the capital sip appart. B-wing starfighter. Weapons: 3 Laser cannons, 3 Ion cannons, and 2 proton torpedo launchers (with 6 proton torpedos each) Shield strength: 120 SBD Hull strength: 60 RU Top speed: 90 MGLT Notes: The B-wing starfighter is the rebellion's heavy bomber which is very well armed and very tough. The rebellion needed a cheap way of inflicting a heavy amount of damage to the Imperial's capital ships without putting their prized Mon Calimari crusers in the line of fire. What they came up with is the B-wing starfighter, developed by, then, Commander Akbar. It's 12 proton torpedos can pack a very heavy punch towards a capital ship and it's heavy shields and armor can withstand huge amounts of punishment. When it comes to the B-wings fire power, it is, in fact, very customizable. Also, another option for the B-wing is to have a large ammo clip installed on the ship. This clip will increase the amount of proton torpedos the B-wing can fire from 12 to 24 proton torpedos. However, this ammo clip also severely reduces manuverablity. While not the fastest ship you can incounter, the B-wing still is a very dangerous ship. E-wing starfighter Weapons: 3 Laser cannons, and 2 Proton torpedo launcher (with 8 proton torpedos each) Shield strength: 100??? SBU Hull strength: 50??? RU Top speed: 105??? MGLT Notes: The E-wing starfighter is the most advanced ship the Rebellion has. Its 16 proton torpedos can pack an even larger punch than the B-wing's 12. One drawback is that The E-wing can't take quite as much punishment as the B-wing, but it is faster and more manuverable than the B-wing. This gives battle tacticians another option when the B-wing is too slow for a heavy bombing mission. Due to the fact that the E-wing's computer systems are far too advanced for a standard R2 droid,(Like X, and Y-wings, E-wings need astromech plug-ins)the brand new R7 droid is the only atromech droid that can handle the E-wings advanced electronics. K-wing starfighter Weapons: 18 hardpoints with which numerous types of weaponry can be installed. Shield strength: 100 SBD Hull strength: ?? RU Top speed: 140?? MGLT Notes: The K-wing "starfighter" is probably the most unusal starfighter the Rebellion has. The K-wing starfighter is designed to take out military istallations located on the surface of planets.(Even though the rebellion's X, E, and Y-wing starfighters are capable of doing this, none of them work well in a heavy atmosphere and large gravity wells.) Therefor it is designed with very large lift-producing wings, 3 very large engines for thrust, and multiple repulsor-lift generators. All of these features are needed for the K-wing to handle heavy atmospheres and large gravity wells. The K-wing also features 2 shield generators and very heavy armor. Unfortunatly other than any anti-starfighter missles the K-wing MIGHT be carrying, it doesn't have any weapons to deal with enemy starfighters. This is why the K-wing has such heavy shielding and armor. It is prefered that other starfighters capable with dealing with Ties escort K-wings with a 1 to 1 ratio, at the very minimum the K-wing sould get a 2 to 1 escorting ratio. Another draw back is that the K-wing doesn't have a hyper drive. A rebellion capital ship has to serve as home base for K-wing starfighters. Much like our real-life fighter jets, the K-wing has 18 hardpoints with which technians can install any varaity of missles, bombs, and torpedos. However, once 18 missles or torpedos run out, it's time for the K-wing to leave. The K-wing can also be used in space to deliver a nasty surprise to imperial capital ships. The K-wing is a bit faster than the X-wing however, it is far less manuverable. The K-wing also has a crew of two poeple; One pilot, and one weapons specialist. T-wing starfighter Weapons: 2 Laser cannons (Some modified T-wings also have 2 cuncussion missle lauchers with 3 missles each.) Shield strength: 20 SBD Hull strength: 15 RU Top speed: 110 MGLT Notes: The T-wing starfighter is the weakest starfighter the rebellion has at their disposel. Sending anyone into battle in a T-wing would almost be suicide, and the reasons for this is obvious. Not only does the T-wing starfighter have no more than 2 laser cannons for weapons, it's shields and hull are even more fragile than that of an A-wing starfighter. It's only plus side is its top speed, which measures up to be 110 MGLT. This makes it as fast as a Tie Interceptor and it also makes it the pilots only hope to come out of battle alive. The E-wing starfighter also goes by the nicknames "the poor man's A-wing" and "the flying coffen." X-wing starfighter. Weapons: 4 laser cannons, and 2 proton torpedo launchers (with 3 proton torpedos each) Shield strength: 50 SBD Hull strength: 20 RU Top speed: 100 MGLT Notes: The X-wing starfighter is the primary (and most famous) space surpiriority fighter used by the Rebellion. It's claim to fame was its achievement of destroying the first Death Star over the planet of Yavin with out any help from Rebellion capital ships. The X-wings speed and manuverability makes it perfect for dogfighting with other fighters. A quality which can be VERY handy to have if your on an escorting mission. With the X-wing's 50 SBD shields and 20 Ru hull, the X-wing can take an okay amount of damage, but still not as much as the Rebelion's B and Y-wings. Y-wing starfighter Weapons: 2 Laser cannons, 2 Ion cannons, and 2 Proton torpedo launchers (with 4 proton torpedos each) Shield strength: 75 SBD Hull strength: 40 RU Top speed: 80 MGLT Notes: The Y-wing, before the introduction of the X-wing starfighter, was the Rebelion's flagship starfighter. It's official designation is that of a medium bomber with it's 8 proton torpedos. Although very durable the Y-wing's limitations were made very clear when only 1 out of 24 Y-wings came back from The Battle of Yavin dispite it's surpirior durability compared to the X-wing. One reason for this is that the Y-wing starfighter is very slow by starfighter standards and it's not very manuverable. Those limitations can give Tie Fighters an advantage in a dogfight. And that's it. NOW SCRAM! [/QB]
