Well, not for another year or so - about this time '06. Before I do buy a place, I need to get my credit score up a bit more and do a better job of paying down some of my debts.

 -

I've never purchased a home before, so, this is kind of scary. But! I pay $710 a month in rent, so I'm hoping I can afford a place in the mid-hundred grand range, although I'm hoping to get something cheaper.

 -

I'm looking in the Baltimore City neighborhood of Remington, which is sandwiched between Hampden and Charles Village. The big selling point is that it's right off I-83, and that the super-gentrification has not yet occured (rowhomes in Hampden now sell for three times what they did five years ago).

 -

I'm looking for a rowhome - in Baltimore, that means a width of from 9' to 16' feet (in Remington, most likely 13') and a depth anywhere from 45' to 60' feet. Rowhomes range from two-story structures with no basement to three-stories with a full basement.

 -

The big thing I'm looking for is a parking pad at the rear of the rowhome. As parking is not always the easiest thing to find, the convenience of private parking is easy to understand. And, as I'm sure you can picture, the thought of not having a yard to keep cut is appealing.

Man....a house for "the mid-hundreds grand" range.

I wish.
I pay $760 for a two bedroom apartment (that's considered extremely good), but houses in South Florids start in the 230's and go up from there.

I think I saw scenes from Homicide set outside all those kinds of houses. . .

My parents recently purchased a large bungalow on 1.5 acres of land for $107k CDN. And I thought that was pricy. [Eek!]

Of course, we had visitors up from South Florida (Ft. Lauderdale area) up over Christmas and they said the same size house (without a basement, natch) on the same amount of land in South Florida would run around $500k US...

That was my point. But wasn't it filmed in LA with about one day a month on location for outside shots, like everything else?

If you want more Baltimore than you can handle, watch The Wire on HBO.

And if you think real estate is expensive, try moving to Los Angeles.

No, Homicide was filmed full time in Baltimore, and many of the actors bought homes in Baltimore. The Wire is also filmed full time in Baltimore - they filmed some scenes from the 1st season here in Cockeysville, interestingly enough.

I wonder if they filmed Line of Fire in Richmond. Good show, that.
