Oh, wait, don't tell me, the First Contact uniforms were actually a retro design. I should have spotted that immediately. In hindsight, the many references in TOS and OS Movie uniform design to the Enterprise uniform are obvious. Silly me.

The piping makes the shoulders look small and/or cramped. Other than that, there isn't much to make the uniforms really stand out to me. I'd have liked some sort of chest insignia, personally.

I don't see any relation to the First Contact uniforms, Vogon, except that they have gray on them.
If you think about it, they do look similar to Zephram Cochrane's blue jumpsuit from the movie.

Well, the jumpsuit look fits the time period, and the colors do fit with the TOS department system, but they just look bland to me. Black might've been better than grey.
I'm just having a really hard time tuning out the voice in my head that says, "Captain Sam Beckett".
I know that's not exactly a knew thought, but seeing him in the uniform just makes the voice louder.

The collar is FC tunic like, the shoulder pads are also similar to the FC ones, IMO. Funny how uniforms got so damn ugly in the future. "Star Wars" had the excuse of galactic revolution and destruction of artistry and creativity to show how ships used too look great, Trek hasn't got that excuse.
They aren't reaslly trying to make the uniforms look more "realistic" or NASA-like (more close to 2001 than 2260), it looks like just another alien uniform of Voyager. But hey, let's just put that too on the ignore-list, like the ship design and show title, then we'll be perfectly fine. Let's listen to REM's "Shiny Happy People"!!!
