I've been seeing this new encoding cropping up in all sorts of newsgroups (yes, even those ones). Not sure how I feel about it really. Anyone have any opinion?

Yes... the disadvantages outweigh the small advantage YEnc offers. A 30% decrease in filesize is fine, but what good does that do if the encryption process is flawed?

I don't like it for the simple fact that my favorite usenet program doesn't support it. I don't care much for the decrease in file size, perhaps I would if I was the one uploading things, but I'm not, so I don't.
