We'll see more and more nuts as we approach 2012- every dumbass is thinking thst this time the world really will end. Unlike the year 2000 And 1000 and every other time.
the idiot History Channel had several hours of programming on Nostradamus and the Myan calander calling 2012 the "end times". Man, that channel has become nothing but shit.

I've lost track of the amount of "end of the world" dates I've lived through. One was in '97 I think and another was in '06.
Of course there's always the statistical possibility (however small) that one day they'll get it right, but on the upside at least we won't be around to hear them say "we told you so".
As for the Mayan, 2012 bit, isn't the Mayan calender supposed to by cyclical? If so and assuming you buy into that sort of thing, wouldn't 2012 mark a new beginning or a rebirth? I think some people just like ot find excuses to freak out.

Yes, the Mayan calendar is cyclical. However, the big deal supposedly is that 2012 is the end of the "last" cycle. Basically, that's the point where the Mayans ran out of numbers to count any higher. So people think that it's the end of everything.
In other words, it's the Mayan Y2K.

Of course, those types don't seem concerned by the fact that there have been examples found of Mayan engravings with references to dates later than 2012...

I expected much more panic and suicide cults in 2000 than what the results showed.
