with Larry Holland, its got to be good. Tie Fighter has to be the best space simulation in terms of design and story.

I'm still playing "Tie Fighter - C.E", about two times a year. I started in -94, did the first seven campaigns in a year, then I lost momentum... Still love it though...

Well, the original Star Wars spacesims were not solely programmed by LH, Edward Kilhalm was the second lead producer. And I have to say that his (LH) subsequent titles (there was only one, really: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter) were a bit disappointing, perhaps his work did not benefit from his resignation from LA.
Still, BC looks impressive, but it's not just about pretty graphics. Playability is equally important, and that aspect tends to be forgotten in a lot of titles.

Xw vs Tf was awful, no plot at all, just multiplayer. "X-Wing: Alliance" was wonderful, all shipmodels reworked, a shitful of new ones and a rich story set during the movies. And the way you got trophies after accomplishing special missions (piece of a Tie-cocpit) felt rewarding.
Monkeyboy: The original "Tie Fighter: Collector's Edition", with the added campaigns of the "Defender Of The Empire"- and "Enemies Of The Empire" additions. With ship-briefings narrated by Malcolm McDowell, and 640x480 res!!! Compared to 320x200, this was heaven!
Bridge Commander looks complicated. Nonetheless, I'll try it.

I wonder what "bridge" you get to command? I heard something about a Galaxy Class USS Icarus on some game site or other, but i don't remember.

The USS Sovereign, and an unnammed as of yet (I think), Galaxy Class.

On the bridgecommander.com website the tactical isn't where it should be (Hold the mouse over the different parts of the bridge on the first picture).
I like the way you can script evasive manoeuvres for use in battle.
Has anyone here played "Birth of the Federation"? Despite some shortcomings I thought it was pretty enjoyable. ------------------ "Philosophy is written in this grand book - I mean universe-which stands continuously open to our gaze, but which cannot be understood unless one first learns to comprehend the language in which it is written. Read the FAQ, or 'deeper info', or whatever it says.
