that is one of the silliest things i've ever read.

of course, it sounds like it would be more fun than another lame season of ENT being Star Trek's sole post-Nemesis offering.

That really is one of the stupidest ideas I've read. It reeks of fan-boyish ideas. Besides, B&B both want to focus only on Enterprise and try to make it the best it can be. Another series would just get in the way and be too time consuming. They already tried doing two series simultaneously twice and it burned everyone out.

OK, two logic holes in this article:

1. If the idea is to get rid of Steuart and Spiner, then WHY put them "in charge" of a Trek series? That would keep them around LONGER...

2. If the TNG cast is too expensive to work with for a new series, wouldn't that INCLUDE Frakes and Sirtis? So how would they be saving money there?

I agree there's just NO WAY they're going to put two Trek serieses into production again simultaneously, esp with Moonives over at "the Big House" still not sure he won't just fold UPN alltogether.

Still, there is a kernel of an interesting premise here...isn't the fall and restoration of the Federation what RHW pitched as his Series 5 proposal (and went on to rework into "Andromeda")? I would watch such a show!

Production concerns aside, it might actually be a worthy premise. Having two series running cocurrently, one two centuries before the other, and yet related? It'd be hard to pull off, but doable with good writers. Where they'd get the writers is another question all together.

They could start by bringing together all the three-initial writers: RHW, RDM, ISB (okay, maybe no-one calls Behr by his initials, but they could...). Hell they could even try to get JMS, if someone edits his dialogue...

A Star Trek war series, followed by a Star Trek Andromeda.....

It could work, if, big if, they don't get corny with it....

If Paramount is unhappy with "Enterprise," then why the hell would they want to have the next series deal with the same stories -- i.e. Future Guy and the Temporal Cold War?

If Paramount is unhappy with Berman and Braga, why would they bank on having TWO series in production at the same time (something that's already shown to be a risky strategy) -- with the future of the replacement series relying in part on the developments of the previous series?

If Paramount is concerned about the success of the Trek franchise, then why don't they take direct action rather than pour more money down the drain? (Assuming that Paramount executives have the same relative intelligence as those running other series, like Andromeda or Farscape.)

That article had a B5 / Star Wars feeling to it... It would be cool, I think, but it would have to be written just right or it would be trash.

Thanks for the laugh. The article had this conspiracy-feeling, and reading the first few lines it really sounded somehow plausible. Until they started the Stewart/Spiner-thing. Fantastic. And the Mariner/Voyager-thing was a well-placed in-joke, too. [Smile]

Lol; didn't notice the Mariner/Voyager thing at first. Very good though.

The Stewart / Spiner takeover conspiracy definitely defied believability. I can't imagine Stewart or Spiner caring enough about the Trek franchise to want to take it over.

Mariner is the dumbest ship name ever.

The idea that TPTB within Paramount would think 2 series ahead when writing Enterprise eps and the Nemesis script is quite, quite laughable.

All in all... I give it a 5 for creativity and a 3 for believability.
