What started out with a truly superb release for Star Trek: The Motion Picture back, over 10 years ago now has progressed through to Star Trek: First Contact! The extended edition soundtracks.
I currently have the soundtracks for 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and now 8. 4 is available but I haven't gotten around to getting it. Not my favourite of the movie soundtracks.
8 arrived in the mail today and i'm excited. One of the best soundtracks. However I really can't decide between 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 8. They are all quintessential star trek.
People may scoff at the movie, the Star Trek 5 soundtrack is truly a superb piece of inspiring and emotional music, and Goldsmith takes the great parts of his scores for both 1 and 5 and runs with them for 8. I can't wait to get to the unheard stuff. I think I might have just reached one of those tracks! *Checks* Track 6: "Shields Down". *grinning*.

Question: What are your favourite Star Trek soundtracks. Do you think they will release Star Trek: Generations in an extended format. Also a much maligned movie, but the soundtrack was one of my earliest CD purchases. It's not too bad y'know.

P.S. After effectively watching 17 years of Stargate in all it's guises... I can pick the Joel Goldsmith tracks with out having to look at the track listing.
Now the Soundtrack to Stargate Universe is something I wish they would release. The music is AMAZING! The soundtrack to "Light" in season 1 is some of the best music for television ever composed.
