For a long time, the Challenger Class ship was assumed to consist of components from Constitution and Constellation Class ships. Recently this has been proven incorrect. I was wondering what the Challenger Class was suppose to look like?

The true Challenger model seems to have been made from Galaxy class and Russian Typhoon class submarine kit parts. The nacelles were mounted in an unusual one up, one down arrangement.

No, i think NX001a means the one from the New-Earth books! The ship on the last cover does not correspond to the one described in the books. Am i right?

He did say "For a long time, the Challenger Class ship was assumed to consist of components from Constitution and Constellation Class ships" which was the description applied for a long time to the Wolf 359 Challenger class.

The description comes from Okuda's infamous 'slide show', where he showed how various Wold 359 ships were supposed to look like, but Okuda personally 'decanonized' the descriptions given there.

I hope we will get some proof of the slide show soon. Recently asked about the show, Okuda wasn't sure about what was in it, so he might be the culprit. But since the Challenger description matches the ship shown in the old comic book: http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/asdb/challenger-c.jpg
it is possible that fandom made up the description that is allegedly from the slide show.

Well I still got the comic book issue with the Challenger Class ship. The comic calls it a Challenger Class Starship assigned to Deep Space Exploration. The name of the vessel was the Marco Polo and the had a really low registry number 4 digits i think. Personally, I prefered this version to the newer version.
