It occured to me that a 360 by 360 coordinate system is (should be?) way too inprecise for galactic distances of several lightyears. Wouldn't it be more advantageous to use a 360.000 by 360.000 measurement?(as even a course deviation of one degree would result in a ship ending up lightyears from where it should arrive)

What would be the point? Fact is, constant course changes are necessary to avoid obstacles anyway. So you just set out on a bearing using the 360 by 360 system, and keep adjusting until you're going in the right direction.

Which is why Seven was able to save the Voyager crew several years by plotting a new course. Presumably, she avoided obsticles in a different way and made more precision calculations.
