While this is renewing a past topic I hope you don't mind a newbie putting in his thoughts to this subject. The Klingon Bird of Prey was originally designed as a Romulan vessel, but was changed at the last minute in the script for Star Trek Three "The Search for Spock" One: The feather pattern on the wings were supposed to be part of the defensive sheild grid system. Two: The wigns themselves were needed for the Cloaking device. Why? Has never been anwsered. Three: The Larger K'Vort Clas BoP has its wings up because the models wing movement mechanism was broken and there wasn't time in the shooting schedule to fix then. So now The K'Vort Class became a larger ship that can not land on a planet. Four: The smaller BoP the B'rel is listed as a scout ship, while the larger K'Vort class is listed as a cruiser. I do have some knowledge of things that happened during production of the show, especially when it came to props like the verious Klingon Starships.

I don't mind the wings -- it gives the BoP a very predatory appearance. Maybe they don't serve any purpose other than aesthetic -- on the other hand, BoPs may be designed to operate in atmosphere as much as space -- but the BoP is a fierce looking little (or, uh, big) attack ship.

Ya, I'm sure your right about the wings. I went back to check my source and it was a piece of fan fiction. So there ya go! Should have checked my sources before adding anything to this board. You guys are sharp! Qurras epetaI-DoQ'Marr Captain IKV Empire's Glory a.k.a.

The Klingon BOP is a bit of an enigma. I believe there are at least 3 different sizes (B'rel, K'vort, and toQDuj'a'). My favorite being the K'vort battlecruiser because it is just the right size to be menacing (these ships are featured in a number of TNG episodes, most notably "Yesterday's Enterprise". But a number of star ships have this size issue, and it's not exclusive to Star Trek. You would think with most series produced in the last 15 years or so using CAD, that correct size would no longer be an issue.

I try to work with canon as much as possible. While the size dilemma has been going on for years now. I stick with whats been on the Movie and TV episodes. The main problem is the same for any Science Fiction that shows a view of spacecraft from the outside, Perspective! Is it huge and faraway or tiny and Close-up? You can't tell unless one overlaps another. Thus the problem. If you care to check out my website you'll notice I only talk about B'rel and K'vort as I have nothing else to base a third type on except an old out dated defunct game no longer published by FASA

If you don't appreciate intelligence you should have noted that before before anyone ever signed on to this so called discussion site. I don't like being called a spammer. I wanted people to view the photos to make my point clearer, but if you don't want to learn any thing why come here. I've admitted that others have made good points and I could be wrong in the passed. I guess I was wrong when I thought I was dealing with other adults. Have a nice life.

*types as he cries over his $1400 "Vista" Powerpack he just bought today at the NEX...(I'll explain below)*
packages? packages? for me?
Ahhh, the memories... my dad and i traded emails alot when i was on the Nassau during the 1st part of it's 02-03 war deployment (i tranfered off a month before hostilities started that year) and, at the time, Cleveland was getting hammered with snow.
Me, of course, being the asshat son, mentions no snow seen in the arabian gulf. frequently. i must of really torqed my dad (had no clue, honestly) because he did get revenge, after a fashion.
When your in the military, nothing says 'Fraud, Waste & Abuse' more than care packages from home. getting comic books, smokes, porn, pictures of your GF discovering her bi-fisting side and egger to show you in person, and freshly nitted knickers from your grandma are awesome, especially when you young in the services. being in the navy is no exception.
now, some of the kids where getting huge crates of shit, i occationally got a small package with mail clippings and what ever BFG bs he got from work, usually related to planes and landing gear.
until one day....
the box i recieved was... what, 4 X 4", the size of a typical pizza box. i picked it up, shook it. i was curious (this fucker is light. what he mail me?) and thus the marines around me (Nassau = Marine Taxi service) that worked in my shop were curious too. i unwrapped the papers... where fuck me, it IS a pizza box (what's in it?). So i open it...
my dad. Dear, Dear Dad.... is fucking evil sometimes. He don't get mad, he fucks you up...
i opened the box.... and nothing was inside. empty. echo... well there was the stains from the previously there pizza. i was like WHAT THE FUCK??? My dad, dear, dear dad, wrote on the inside of the box (which became SOP as the Pizzabox became the standard mailing device for him after that) That 'There was a pizza in here... and it was GOOD.'
Yeah, i was royally fucked up.
There there was the gopher that sang 'Anchor's Away, my love' but that's another story...
oh, that 1400 dollar powerpack? I bought a new Vista-Viao laptop today, moved some of my MY DOCs files from my old laptop to the new one... and somehow corpted the boot disc (uh, no. hadnt made a boot disc yet) so my new laptop is fuckered.
