On boy what an episode, it seems that Lee and Kara got the hots for each other, or at least they did. Oh and boxing is fun.

Not AS bad as I feared it would be, when I first saw the preview, though using a boxing match as a pretext for flashbacks to New Caprica still seems unnecessary to me.
And once again we're presented with a wholly modern, Earth visual aesthetic to something. Come on, they had boxing in ancient Greece, at least do something to make it look like a derivative of that.
It's interesting to finally see bits of non-Cylon occupied New Caprica life, and adding that to the story purely after the fact is not a wholly ineffective depiction, but it still reeks of the overall story progressing without any foresight.

I was hoping for more insight into what life was like on New Caprica, and less boxing. One plus for the episode was Adama and Roslin's unspoken romantic gazes.

I thought Adama's way of telling Tyrol to get back to work was a bit much, though I did like that Laura knew a bit about boxing in an odd sort of way.

Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I kinda thought that Adama had a little grudge against Tyrol for starting the whole mass defection of the crew down to New Caprica. Seeing the shape the two battlestars' crews were in just before the Cylons showed up, knowing that more than half of the military would get mustered out... could it be that Adama kinda projected the guilt for not being ready for the Cylons, for them letting their guard down and going soft?
...That doesn't exactly make as much sense as it did before I typed it out.

No, it makes sense. Adama did have a grudge against Tyrol but it's unjustified since I agree with Tyrol decision. His baby shouldn't be born on some battlestar.

I also don't get Adama's speech about how, as a leader, he shouldn't have gotten so close to the people he was leading. Does that mean he thinks that Roslin and he shouldn't be so close, since she's his leader?

She's never been his leader. He's subordinate to her in some sense, but they're certainly peers who make joint decisions in most cases.

Except, that's more of an arrangement between them, not the usual state of affairs between a president and an admiral. In fact, one could say that the equality between Roslin and Adama is another symptom of their being too close, no?
(Of course, there's also the fact that she didn't exactly voluntarily put him on a level with herself. He's kind of the one with all the guns, after all.)
