Evening all, i thought I would just post this little bit of information about the Norway Class blueprint (C.G.I.) or what ever people like to call it. I have been able to get a 5 view blueprint of the USS Budapest from First Contact. As far as I know but I may be wrong until now, no real 5 exterior views have been available until now.
I hope it helps people who have been looking for some views on this ship. Enjoy

Wow... there's nothing very much different from the basic structures that a few smaller-res fan models have done, but it's still nice to have a set of quasi-official five-view schematics.

This ship has both my votes for "The starship which the least amount of thought went into," and "worst design ever," with the runner-up being the NX-01. BTW, doesn't the underside resemble the Defiant in the front?...
So it's true? No more Fact Files? Why?

hmph.. im sure that ST: The Mag will still subject us to that stuff.
looks like they cut and pasted their drawing file from the Defiant for the detail.. since the CGI was assumed to be irreparably lost, should we assume that this is an interpolation? or is it possible they drew this from the actual pre-damage CGI?
BTW, the bottom looks a lot like the 'unidentified wreckage' from First Contact. Any1 got a pic of that to compare?
[edit] oh maybe not, i just looked at it an that one seems to have escape pods. oh well

Amazing. How well I remember, way back in early '97 or thereabouts, refusing to have anything to do with the Fact Files because a) they were way to fanboyish (not that I knew the term then, this was even pre-Utopia Planita v1), and b) the mag would only last a few issues before vanishing forever. So I was half-right at least. 8)

From what I remember, that piece of wreckage was a miniature that was constructed specifically to be a bit of debris. It didn't come from any specific ship or class. However, it does appear to be the front, center piece of a saucer section.
I'm going to be stoned for this one... but I've always dug the Norway. I liked all the FC ships. This 5-view just makes me like it more. It looks sweet...

What is this page!?! I tried the link but the page didn't exist! Sorry, is this an official Norway thing?
I'm still waiting on someone here who has contact with Drexler to ask him what his source was for the Norway schematic in the Encyclopaedia. He might have been the last person to see any trace of the Norway (and might still have it on his computer - remember Mojo said that ILM don't have it anymore!!)

It's a scan(good job on making it bigger, Gerard ) of 5-view blueprints of the Norway class from this week's Star Trek Fact Files. So, I suppose that makes it official.

There's a heck of a lot of Defiant panelling and features on the Norway. I wonder if it'd be possible/practical to extrapolate a size for the Norway by scaling the Defiant-alike features.

OK, It's finally connected and I'm currently downloading it.
TWO words of warning as to the 'authenticity' of this thing.
1. The Fact Files track record of schematics for obscure classes, Niagra etc.
2. The fact that NO ONE has seen this model since it was made for First Contact in 1996. Mojo said that ILM didn't have it anymore. The ONLY person I suspect that MAY have a copy of it is Doug Drexler as he needed it to create the schematic featured in the 2nd Edition encyclopaedia. And you would assume that Alex Jager still has his own work on file.
So how did the Fact Files people get this information?
Oh, it's sorta sad that that is the last fact files... but well - I'm glad I only bought like 5 of them... 300+ at like 7 bucks each... over 2000 bucks for a lot of 'obvious stuff' 100 schematics most with labelling saying "nacelle".
