The max-res is never the native res for any monitor because the refresh rate sucks and the pixels are too dense. My 20" has 1280 as native res, a 17" would do best in 1024. I play games in 1024 nowadays, but only because the hardware allows it. Michael T: If you have a Radeon 9600 you have excellent chances of getting high refresh rates, as far as the video card goes. I would recommend 800x600, the most comfortable res for a 15". What model and year is your laptop, Michael? If it's at least 2000-2002 I think 100 Hz might be doable, which is as much refresh rate as anyone will ever need. Seriously, people, if you can just get 85 Hz you are in the clear, anything higher is also good but not THAT necessary. I once played "Space Quest III: Pirates of Pestulon" on my old Amiga 500 back in '92 for a whole day, 14" monitor that I'm not even sure counted refresh rate. I got such a headache I hallucinated and pulled my hair for hours, to leviate the pain. I've had my fair share of run-ins with mr flicker to know what's good for me. [/QB]
