Day 1: Not so bad. Zyban and the Patch don't seem to be having any significant effects, but I'm doin' okay.Day 2: Going insane. When the craving comes, it brings friends. I went out & bought a pack. Smoked most of it that day & evening. Still smoked less than my former average of 1-2 packs/day.
Day 3: Finished the pack (3 cigs). Had no further smokes.
Day 4: sneaked a few puffs from my brother-in-law (with his aid). Jaws ache from clenching teeth.
Day 5: (Ditto). Jaws still ache, but not so much.
Day 6: Made it through the day w/o smoking at all.
Day 7: No smokes today. Still edgy, but I haven't had a smoke.
It ain't easy, but it's getting easier.

According to the stop-smoking program I'm in, "falling off the wagon" and climbing right back on again (you'll note that my use tapered rapidly after that point) is an expected difficulty. If you beat yourself up for giving in to the craving, you're that much less likely to succeed. Rather, you look on lapses like that as bumps in the road, and press on.
It's quite apparent you've never had to deal with an addiction. Good for you, but please don't be so smug. It isn't very becoming.

P.S. Day eight's nearly over and I didn't cheat once. The cravings are less, too. I think by tomorrow I can be civil with very little effort .

I didn't.
Each day the cravings are weaker. They come and last only a few seconds instead of 20-30 minutes.
Cool.
