If you just fantasize about that stuff, get a Subaru or an Audi Quattro.<P>No SUV handles or stops as well as a car, and only the most absurdly expensive ones accelerate like a car. If you want to mash the occupants in another car into chunky salsa because you're too bad a driver to avoid collisions, you don't need to be driving in the first place.<P>The most common "reason" I hear for driving an SUV is "It's safer in a collision".<P>It's only safer in a collision with smaller vehicles. It doesn't have the crush zones it needs to be safer in collisions with other SUVs or immovable objects, such as a bridge abutment. In those cases, the vehicle survives, while the passengers absorb all the excess kinetic energy.
