Ack! The curs-ed Ford Tempo! They started making those before they started boasting about quality being Job One. Tempo was a good idea, badly designed and poorly executed. Try to let someone joyride that thing and get an Escort or a Contour. Either is preferable to a Tempo. You have my deepest sympathy. ------------------ My mind wanders, but don't worry. Well I've been looking about for an suv of my very own, looking at a landrover county. Beautiful things, only problem is that a decent one is AU $12 000. I'v haven't got that kind of money coming out of my arse. But, scrimp, save and one never knows .As for the soccer mums...they'd have to be amongst the worst drivers on the road. Can't have little Johnny late for the game now can we? (Perhaps if you had made the little git wake up 5 minutes earlier.......). Here's a wee link. the top one is a county, even though the caption says defender =). http://4wd.sofcom.com/LandRover/Defender/110.html And here's a pic of the type I'm currently using...*Hears boos from non-enthusiasts*. http://4wd.sofcom.com/Mitsubishi/Pajero/1996.html my one is the long wheel base version of the bottom picture on that page.

I haven't got a car either - can't afford one. Hopefully once I graduate from uni, get myself a high flying job and earn ridiculous amounts of money, that's when my first car will arrive. ------------------ Do business with us, or we'll ruin you.

The only people who need an SUV are the ones who actually do the things an SUV is capable of, like towing tons of stuff or negotiating difficult trails. If you just fantasize about that stuff, get a Subaru or an Audi Quattro. No SUV handles or stops as well as a car, and only the most absurdly expensive ones accelerate like a car. If you want to mash the occupants in another car into chunky salsa because you're too bad a driver to avoid collisions, you don't need to be driving in the first place. The most common "reason" I hear for driving an SUV is "It's safer in a collision". It's only safer in a collision with smaller vehicles. It doesn't have the crush zones it needs to be safer in collisions with other SUVs or immovable objects, such as a bridge abutment. In those cases, the vehicle survives, while the passengers absorb all the excess kinetic energy. Fun, huh? ------------------ My mind wanders, but don't worry.
