...I'm doing overseas studies in England. I'll be applying for the program in University of Sussex this fall (they don't let you do it earlier).
Basically, the idea came about after a couple of friends shared their experiences while doing overseas studies in Edinburgh. Even then it was a culmination of many other factors that led me to believe this was too good an opportunity to pass up, though I should say that the opening of the Harry Potter movie was a decisive moment (But I'm not doing this just so I could see Kings Cross station and run myself into the wall between platforms 9 and 10). Of course, Australia and New Zealand were both tempting, too, but I gave in to the five-week spring break and a chance to travel in Europe.
Now, it hasn't escaped my notice that I seem to know some people who live in the general UK area. So where exactly are you people, anyway, now that I care?

Nottingham! I live in good old Nottingham!
It's OK where I live - bit close to a river - as there is a decent bookshop in a town about 3 miles from where I live.
Mmm, books . . .
Pardon me while I drool.

You just have to be careful riding through the forest, lest those merry hooligans steal your bags of gold and give them out as charity...

I second that.
Well, why don't you come to Toronto instead? You'll only have ME to worry about.
Okay, I'll stop.

Congrats, TZ!
I've considered doing graduate work outside of the United States. The earliest that would happen is two years, though. And I'd probably be transplanting myself to Canada and not overseas. And I'd probably just go to whatever school Topher the Fabrux is attending so that I can follow him around setting off Roman candles in his wake.
As if Canada doesn't have enough to worry about without having a native Texan come live with them for a while.

Oh, great, Fabrux -- run! Siegfried has a crush on you.

I fear for my life.

Lee's in London, I flip between the capital and Liverpool (which to avoid confusion *cough*Jeff*cough* isn't a suberb of London), Orion is, er, somewhere, and Monty's probably back in Scotland, which means we can only communicate with him by pidgeon.
Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :
Actually, Monty is now in Bristol. And my parents live down near Brighton, where much of the University of Sussex is based.

Whip the limys into shape, Zyial!
Scrath that, Liam would enjoy the whipping.

*Brings up Multimap.com* So that's where you people are...
Liam: How/Why exactly do you flip between Liverpool & London?
Tom: By the way, Miss Cleo went to my high school. (I'm not kidding)
Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :
Liam is upset because I didn't know that Liverpool wasn't a suburb of London. Then again, he doesn't know where Baltimore is in relation to DC, so I don't know why he's one to speak.
Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :
No kidding? Born in Brighton, well I never.
Kate and I are actually talking about moving down that way, maybe next year. London is a shithole and we don't want our kids growing up here. Down in Sussex we get free childcare, leaving them with the olds. 8)

No, because I'm not talking about Sussex as a State (counties aren't the same as states, BTW) that allows for free childcare, but leaving the kids with their grandparents.
Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :
Sarcasm. Aren't you Brits supposed to be great at that?
Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :
Yes we are. You aren't.
Tora: I'm at uni in Liverpool, so I mainly live there. I go back to my parents during the holidays, mainly to work, and also to see my nephews and nieces who are all cuddly and cute aww...
Er, anyway, I did drive. Then I hit a car who thought that parking on a dark spot on the fast lane of the M6 without his hazard's on would be a really good thing to do. So I've been getting the train the last couple of times. It gives me a chance to catch up on my comic reading, and general sitting.

TZ I am also in London, and if you'd rather go girly shopping, catch a chick flick or drink until you puke in the street you can always call me.

Hmm, I shall have to breed them differently. They need to be more fuzzy.

Wouldn't want to get behind in your sitting!
Posted by CaptainMike (Member # 709) on :
Just general sitting? I was doing a lot of general sitting (at the table, around the house) but i found it much more enjoyable and involving to get into some specialized sitting. On the toilet, or upside down on the couch while watching Wrath of Khan, stuff like that. Staring at the wall in the dark is a really intense kind of sitting.

Count me in for the first two (though can't shop too much as won't be able to carry home). I don't really drink though.
