Look under what's new, the Sept. 9th entry.

Wait, I thought he was 16-years old and lived in England?

Posted by Snay (Member # 411) on :

And, you know, his grammar seems to have improved fifty-million percent.

Posted by Omega (Member # 91) on :

Hmm... my mistake. [Smile]

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

I'm afraid I don't get it. Did I miss something here?

I will admit, though, that for a second I thought Omega was pointing out evidence that Usama bin Laden was still running around. I've got to lay off of these September 11th specials for a while.

OK, now THATS amusing. Took me a while to spot the Darkstar name, but then it all made sense [Smile]

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

Are you sure that's the same Darkstar? That one uses things like capital letters, punctuation marks, and coherent sentences.

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

Okay, I see what's going on now. However, I don't think that's the same Darkstar. I think his first named was Daniel, not Robert.

Posted by E. Cartman (Member # 256) on :

There are lots of Guardian2000's and even more DarkStars, but there's only one DARKSTAR. From Swindon. I should think.

As an aside, Omega, you should be quite familiar with the five tactics of debate. [Wink]

Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :

From reading Wong's page and this other fellow's page, this isn't DARKSTAR. This is a Flare poster, however. Guardian 2000, Member #743.

Posted by Charles Capps (Member # 9) on :

This is news to you somehow? [Wink]

Posted by Capped In Mic (Member # 709) on :

Theres an entire Corps of Darkstars... they are charged with keeping interstellar peace, or were.

They became especailly important to intergalactic security after the L.E.G.I.O.N. organization began to crumble, and the Green Lantern Corps lost their power source.

I think they got taken apart by some invader to Rann though, which leaves a real power vacuum, at least until a new GL Corps gets off the ground.

Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :

Well I hadn't really paid much attention to that until now... [Smile]

Posted by Omega (Member # 91) on :

Just don't try sending out a fake distress call to lure one into a trap. They learned their lesson the first time.

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

That's not much of an accomplishment. Even Scotty learned that lesson.

Posted by Capped In Mic (Member # 709) on :

Well obviously he saw through that trap! He flipped thruogh his editions of the Star Trek: Encyclopedia & Star Trek: Chronology and saw the ship they were getting a distress call from had been decommissioned in 2196, according to a comment by a synthetic commander he would later meet!

While I understand well who we are talking about, I dislike the tone of this thread which implies a silent agreement what we have to think of Darkstar. If there is anything to be stated, it should not be obscured.

The defender of planet Rann used to be Adam Strange. When did that change?

Posted by Capped In Mic (Member # 709) on :

i'll have to dig out the relevant comics (it was a Green Lantern issue) but i think he was there too..

Posted by Free ThoughtCrime America (Member # 480) on :

Cool. As long as he was there. Having a story on Rann without Strange would be like going to a Burger King that had no Whoppers.

i've been to a burger king when they were out of whopper buns [Frown]

Sounds like you two have passed through Port Huron.... I know where there are a couple of Burger Kings that would be good locations for a fast food joint...

Posted by Free ThoughtCrime America (Member # 480) on :

I've been to a couple of Burger Kings that would be an Ideal Location for nuclear waste disposal.

It wouldn't change the consistency of the food one bit.

While we're on the subject of fast food, has anybody read "Fast Food Nation"? My eyes are bleeding from it. (I should point out that's a compliment.)

After finishing that book, I took a solemn oath to never eat at a fast food factory again. I intend to keep this oath sacred at least until the next time I'm broke and hungry.

Damn 99 cent cheeseburgers.

I am pro-Burger King, and especially pro-Chicken Whoppers. Delicious. A good day consists of a film, followed by a Chicken Whopper, and then a delicious apple or cherry turnover from Arby's. They are all in a row on the street.

Then I go home and weep for hours.

/me former McDonald's Store Manager

/me never eating fast food again. (from a major corporate chain)

and i recommend you read Fast Food Nation.

Posted by E. Cartman (Member # 256) on :

McDonalds stores use a very loose interpretation of the term "food". Some of that stuff appears to gain partial sentience while it's prepared.

"Meat tastes like murder, and murder tastes pretty damn good." -- Denis Leary

I love the BK Double Whopper with cheese (no tomato, no onion), but the single best burger in the world is the Hardee's Monster Burger. 2 whopper-sized patties, american cheese, mayo, and bacon strips. I can feel my arteries harden every time I eat one.

Posted by Capped In Mic (Member # 709) on :

although i am mostly a vegetarian, my stand isnt against meat.

its against mind control and poison. mcdonalds is deforesting the world to make room for hormone fed, antibiotic addicted, genetically deficient cattle to deliver substandard meat that is full of chemicals to your car window, and making you think you want with slick advertising. the hormones is mcdonalds (and BK) food has been prven to be the cause of many changes in human growth patterns when it is fed to children. and thats exactly who the clown preys upon.

im not saying i dont enjoy the conveneince of a quick snack. the techniques involved in serving fast food are sound, just the sources of the food are reugnant and the people who are doing it are monsters.

Hm. Ate McD's from childhood, especially during growth spurts, and am now 6' tall and just under 200 lbs.

True, I could stand to lose 20 lbs, but that's more due to the fact that I could stand to exercise more than it is to my diet. No matter what I eat, my weight stays the same, at least for the last decade.

Frankenfoods are yum.

When you say something has been "proven," you should be ready to post the study (oh, yeah, like I follow that rule [Smile] ..).

Is there one?

I heard something a couple of years ago about the relationship between steroid-saturated beef and american men growing up in the 60's someplace in the US, got big as houses and aggressive. Any of you heard of that?

Posted by Capped In Mic (Member # 709) on :

unfortunately i read it on this paper stuff they used to have and its dreadfully difficult to link to. and since i dont have it (it wasnt my article) i cant copy it up or quote it or anything.

and the article i read was a study on how girls grow faster and lactate years earlier than they should, because they eat beef that was given growth acceleration hormones that make animals grow faster and drink milk that was from animals given hormones to make them lactate sooner and produce more milk.

Shik should sue McDonald's!

I'll try to find some sources for this.. its something i was told at work (Whole Foods makes sure to educate its employees on all sorts of food related matters so we can offer more knowledgeable help as to why we dont carry shitty food)

Fuck no! I'll kill you!

You didn't grow up in the 60s, did you Simon?

I'll kill you!

What do you want from me? To pass up the most perfect setup ever set up?

Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :

I don't get it. Burgers with bacon and cheese should taste nice, yet to me they don't. Something's missing. So I've largely given up on them for now, in favour of the sunday lunch burger, which has a Yorkshire pudding in it, and horseradish sauce.

Posted by Nimpim (Member # 205) on :

I sure wouldn't mind a Salisbury steak right now...
Damn i*, had I gone to bed half an hour ago I wouldn't have felt the approaching hunger due to the sleep, now I have to design swedish sandwiches... With blackjack! And hookers!

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

Yorkshire pud IN the burger? How can that possibly work in this universe?

Posted by Mucus (Member # 24) on :

....heck, forget the sandwiches.

Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :

Well, it's no more different than the intermediate bread layer in a Big Mac, or the hash brown in a KFC tower burger.

Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :

KFC makes burgers in your country? MADNESS!

Posted by Free ThoughtCrime America (Member # 480) on :

The next thing you know some people will be covering their fries in mayo.

The horror, the horror.

Posted by Mucus (Member # 24) on :

The sad thing, is I'm only aware of that fact through "Pulp Fiction". Who says movies with "Bad Motherfuckers" aren't educational?

Posted by Nimpim (Member # 205) on :

Mayonnaise, Aioli and Tsatsiki is superb dipping-material, simpletons. [Smile]

Posted by Free ThoughtCrime America (Member # 480) on :

What's aioli?

Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :

Isn't that the cold mashed potato with garlic in it?

Posted by Nimpim (Member # 205) on :

Aioli is a sauce from Provence, it's made of crushed garlic, egg yolks, olive oil and lemon juice. Goes great with potato wedges.
In TGI Fridays in Stockholm you can almost always get it and a strong salsa to your steak.

Posted by Free ThoughtCrime America (Member # 480) on :

Sounds good. Well, except for putting salsa on a steak, but hey, whatever people like to eat is fine by me.

Posted by Nimpim (Member # 205) on :

Maybe that (aioli/salsa) was for the TGI-nacho menu, my misteak.
Although there are great tomato mixes that go good with steak, IMOROFLMAO.
