Recently, I've been working at two Papa John's stores ... the Cockeysville (very suburban/urban area) and the Jacksonville (very VERY rural ... 70 or so sq. mile delivery area with 3 traffic lights) stores.

On Friday, I quit at Cockeysville. My boss has been a complete dick for some time, and cut my hours from 27, to 15, to 6, and finally to 3. Thursday night, I was hired as a server at Chi-Chi's (a Mexican restaraunt)*. I start tomorrow.

Did I mention I'm also working at Towson's English Department's Computer Writing Lab?

Would you like to see my schedule?

Okay, okay, so I'm not literally going to kill myself. I figure I'll collapse from exhaustion by December.

The body has a way of taking this kind of punishment for lengthy periods of time....

Dr. Fink.

The body has, but the mind, erh, hasn't.

*stands up* HI, my name is LOA and I'm a workaholic....

*crowd responds* Hi, LOA!

Snay, been there, done that, feel your pain... I just cut back though... I just started school, so I'm only working 50 hours a week for a while [Wink]

You'll do fine working this much until you take a break... I'm not kidding, if you're anything like me, not only will your body get used to it, but you'll almost start to crave it.... when you DO finally get a day off, it'll seem weird, and you'll feel out of sorts. Trust me, it's disturbing, but true...

It'll be quite a while before you feel like collapsing from exhaustion, most likely, but I'm not kidding- if you take a few days off (like a long weekend or something) you'll never want to go back. Ever. It'll be the hardest thing you've ever had to do.

So, keep up the schedule, stay strong, DON'T GET SICK, and try your hardest to find at least 30 mins a day just for you... you'll be fine! [Razz]

And if you ever need to vent, I'm here for ya [Wink]

~LOA

UM: you notice Dr. Fink's name, but not Dr. McCool? What's wrong with you? [Big Grin]

LOA: Don't worry, I'll rant to you. [Smile]

You guys and gals are nuts! 50+ hours a week of work!!!! [Eek!] Over here, full-time is 37 hours and as a student we are discouraged from working more than 10 a week to prevent our studies being interferred with. Aren't your studies suffering? [Confused]

yeah they suck. i fail most of my classload any given semester.

i tried to explain to all my bill collectors that i wanted to go to school but they still insisted i pay for my food, clothes and car.

small minded individuals, in this real world.

Seriously, what do you think I'm doing when I'm "working" in the comp lab? I'm studying. And gettin' paid for it!

What is this "Junkyard Dog's" place?

My schedule is light this semester when it comes to classes. I was originally going to take 12 hours, but one of my classes was canceled (no reason given). I could not slide into an open section, so I am stuck with just 9 hours. I still part-time at the same place I've been working for almost a year now (about 27 hours a week).

My Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule starts at 6am with a my thrice weekly walk around Memorial Park. I get into work between 8am and 9am and work until 6pm. The rest of the evening is studying and goofing around.

My Tuesday-Thursday schedule starts at about 8:30am. I usually run errands until my first class begins at 11:30am. At 5:30pm, I'm on my way home to study and goof around.

The weekends are mine! And by "mine" I mean that they're mine provided my parents do not have anything big planned for me.

Like what, the Marshmellow Man from Ghostbusters?

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

More like ripping out the 20-year old kitchen counter tops and replacing them with granite tile. Or building a shed. Or repainting several rooms in the house.

Ya know, I think somehow you've convinced me to get a second job. Or work out harder. Or both. My schedule leaves me with way too much time on my hands... time that'd be better spent preparing for the day I shall venture bravely forward into this mysterious Real World.

Guys, this is NOT FUNNY!

If Snay works himself to death, who will control the spread of Odocoileus Virginianus?

This is a major concern we should all be worried about!

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

It's kinda like the whole Buffy The Vampire Slayer thing. Whenever one slayer dies, another one rises to take his/her place. Snay is Jeffrey The Deer Killer. If he dies, another will rise to take his place.

And if that really isn't the case, we can petition Congress to add an "Office of Deer Control" to the Department of Homeland Security.

Oh.

Well in that case, who gets the Jeep?

second jobs rock! i wouldve worked 48+ hours at WFM all summer, but cashiering 9-10 hours a day could drive a boy mad. switching to another job, and getting to hang with my friends on Thayer St. and getting to eat free food, and getting paid for it rocks! plus i have an excuse to stay out late!

Hmm. My schedule:

AM
12:00-1:00 or so: Online time!
1:00-2:00: read
2:00-10 or 11 ish: sleep
11ish to 12ish: unscheduled
PM
12:00-1:30: e-mail
1:30-6:00: TV, despair
6:00-12:00: unscheduled

However, today went like this:
12:00-1:00 or so: online
1:00-1:30: read
1:30-9:00: sleep
9:00: arise to the dulcet tones of "go do this specific farm task while we are all gone"
10:00-1:30: farm task
1:30-2:00: lunch (one bowl Cocoa Krispies, or is it Kocoa Krispies?)
2:00-3:45: farm task
3:45-4:30: shower (it didn't really take that long, but afterwords I took a nap)
4:30-9:00: television
9:00: dinner (one TV dinner, salisbury steak)
And I have been on the internet since!

(In point of fact, I actually spend much of my day taking care of my mother, who is not well.)

Don't you go to school?

Man, I wish I coulda seem Omega's face when he saw the title of this thread. Omega's Mom: "Omega, why are you screaming 'happy happy joy joy' at 3am?"

Sol, my wife and I went through 3 years of taking care of my father-in-law, the next sister took over for a few years, then the next.... then maybe back to us... He feels good about it, since he liked hearing his daughters argue over who gets to take care of him.... So good luck to you and your sanity.

Snay, I'll bet....

I have a friend who will give Snay compitition now. He has hit at least three already, maybe four. Two with an Isuzu pickup, and one or two with his Geo Metro.

When one hits a deer w/ a Geo Metro, how does the car survive to hit another deer?

Posted by E. Cartman (Member # 256) on :

I presume because it couldn't have been doing much more than, say, five mph...

I figured you .sig sake to make that remark....

That would put a quick end to the hunting competition...
