Amerika Rooles! Sadly it's only humor. But someday, baby, someday!

Every so often the Onion produces a masterwork, with results varying from global affirmation that it was indeed possible to joke about September 11 to the introduction of concepts like "vowel deployment" to the vernacular of the everyday Westerner.
Today is one of those days.

do we really need a UN Resolution for that?
Posted by Ritten (Member # 417) on :
To hell with the UN... Just make all the other countries states and be done with it.....

We'll just hit the yanks back, always during the airing time of "West Wing". See, they can't focus then. Magic hour!

Any airing of "Friends" will do quite nicely as well. Plus, it's on about fifty times a day.

They'd probably give up and go home after 3 days without American football or baseball. not to mention beer and nachos.

I was not aware that Sweden had much of a beer reputation one way or the other.

just as an aside, apparently a large percentage of New Zealand children cannot locate New Zealand on a world map.
Posted by Ritten (Member # 417) on :
I will lead the charge.... Make those dang people over there stop about the 35 to 40% lower American tourist rate.... The St. Clair Parks lost a lot of money...
Now, if those parks were American anyway, then they wouldn't have lost nearly as much money....
But we should wait on annexing them till after they have made mary jane legal....

Well at NZ = 270,534 sq km USA = 9,629,047 sq km
Or 36 times the size of NZ then the Americans should be able to find it more easily.

And here I am, a US American, and I can find the US, Canda, New Zealand, and old Zealand on a map. I really need to learn how to fit in better...

and your point is, doc? kids who go to school should know where their damn country is, regardless of how big or small.

Unless it means that kids are stupid all over the world....

no, kids aren't stupid. it's the education system, not the inherent intelligence of the children.

I saw an interview with Robin Williams this evening, and he can't do an Australian/New Zealander accent (in case some Antipodean tries to claim they're different, Williams actually tried both). Which is quite surprising given how easy it is.
Posted by EdipisReks (Member # 510) on :
well, Robin Williams can't be the god of everything.
Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :
Surely it involves saying "mate" and "barbie" a lot?
Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :
Frank thinks Liam sounds Australian.
Posted by The_Tom (Member # 38) on :
Frank is wrong and stupid.

I'm surprised you can fit in anywhere, being the size that you are.

There's a new Zealand now, too?
Posted by Ritten (Member # 417) on :
Yes, I've heard rumors that it is there by all those prisoner on that big island. It must be where the prison guards stay...

"i've had swedish beer, and it was bad."
Yep, bad swedish beer brands exist. And then there are good ones. Just like any other country. Tuborg, Spendrups and Zeunerts are some good lagers. If you ever come back here, look me up, I could introduce you to a bottle alright. My treat!

I'm not.
Oh, and Australian and New Zealander accents are different. Barely, but they are. New Zealanders replace all their short e's w/ short i's.
Posted by EdipisReks (Member # 510) on :
i had a New Zealander clarinet teacher (i used to be a clarinet performance major) and he sounded pretty different from my fake Australian accent.
Posted by Ritten (Member # 417) on :
EdipisReks, you are so very right....
I can't remember the name, but I really liked a double-bach(sp?) out of the Hess area, something local I believe it was from near Butzbach....
