IF we could eliminate that "plastic taste..."

IF we could make them strong enough to survive a drop...

IF we could make them so the beer has a long shelf-life...

Would you buy beer in a plastic bottle?

Beer in a plastic bottle? That's....sacrilegious...

Posted by Cartmaniac (Member # 256) on :

No.

And while we're at it, no more Coke in plastic bottles either! I thought it was just my imagination that Coca-Cola tasted better from a glass bottle than from a can - until I tasted it from a plastic bottle.

That's just wrong.

I can't quite believe you're suggesting this... [Wink]

I had some plastic bottled beer a few weeks ago at a concert; it was not good compered to glass bottles or cans. It also cost 3.50 a bottle which was a bloody rip off, but there you go...

3.50/bottle of beer? That's like $7... That's a huge rip-off!

Posted by Wraith (Member # 779) on :

Yeah, don't I bloody well know it!!

They wouldn't let you take your own drinks in either. Bastards. [Razz]

I don't drink anyway, so I guess I'd prefer plastic so I don't have to really worry about getting hit by one or stepping in glass or other nasty stuff like that.

I would not mind milkshakes in plastic bottles.

But then, I would not mind milkshakes in a shoe.

I love milkshakes, I will tell you that right now.

What about a milkshake in a plastic shoe?

Local east coast beer concern thinks this will be the Next Big Thing and is investing in the technology.

Frankly, I can't taste a difference, then again I'm getting paid to not notice. [Big Grin] (kidding!)

Only real problem I can see is recycling. Each bottle consists of 3 layers of 3 kinds of resin.

Other than that, the big problem is convincing the public that this is Better.

Not my problem, that's the brewery's issue. I was just intrested in a snapshot of opinion.

Thanks!

Well, until Moosehead green starts coming in plastic bottles, I have no problems. [Big Grin]

I thought "Keith's" and "Maritimes" were "Moo-too-ah-lee" exclusive, "eh?"

I know what you mean. But if it gets me drunk, I'll drink it! (alcoholic beverages only, no wierd stuff)

American beer doesn't really count as beer anyway. More like flavoured water.

Posted by Kosh (Member # 167) on :

I almost never drink pop anymore, since it went to plastic.

Somehow, I don't think the makers of the better beers will fool with plastic. It will probably be an American beer thing, and the good ones, the Micro's will still be in glass.

For people who drink Bud and Miller and the like, taste doesn't mean much anyway, so plastic weont make much differencve.

Keith's is more of a Nova Scotia beer. Alpine & Moosehead are the most popular in the Maritimes, though.

Y'know, beer in a can is bad enough. Now someone's talking about selling it in plastic bottles?!?

Hell NO! [Mad]

Ain't touchin' it. I'll quit drinking all beer before I'll drink it out of a plastic bottle.... [Eek!]

I don't drink.
I especially don't drink beer.
I especially, especially don't drink beer in plastic.

Now, a refillable plastic container shaped like an IBG, that would sell! Especially if the beverage came out of the B's.

Hey Styro, we're not really answering your question are we? I think it's safe to say that we'd (I'd) be skeptical about drinking beer from plastic, but if (as you posit it could) it did taste the same and kept the same and didn't get, etc. I think I'd do it. I don't know whether shaping it like a shoe would be good, though. Or an IBG. Whatever that is. (You know, with the B's?)

IBG = Irish Breast Goddess. Humorous caricature of my wife. [Big Grin]

Things that are really awesome:

1.) Milkshakes.
2.) Rob's obsession with this dude's wife's boobs.

...and yet people wonder why we don't post anymore pictures of her. One bloody toppless photo and the perverts flow like melted butter. [Big Grin]

One question First: Does Julie know of your obsession with my wife's figure? While I don't mind one bit, and niether does Lizzy prehaps it's time to move on?

Now... Excuse me while I make a milkshake for Ultra.

No, Julie doesn't.

Sheesh, I'm just having fun.

The IBG, like beer, is something I would not take even if I was offered it freely.

For different reasons, of course. I HATE beer.

Just goes to show what a fool you are. If she offered herself to you and you turned her down you would die. Instantly.

From a crushed head.

Ah well... Who want's another plastic milkshake?

No, that'll happen only if I go to Za'ha'dum.

Neither will happen, so I'm in no danger anyway.
