I've only visited 10% of the world's countries. That's really depressing.

The only foreign country I've been to is Canada. And, depending on what ignoramus you talk to (of course), that doesn't even count.

So, really, no sympathy from me.

What was Nigeria like??

African.

Much like South Africa!

I will take the world by storm yet, one day.

Brazil? Venezuela? Portugal? Strange. Just visiting the beaches, or something else?

I really need to get out more.

Portugal was a holiday while I was still a toddler. Does that mean it really counts? Not sure. I was born in Venezuela, and my mother is Brazilian.

Austria, Belgium, Germany, France, Czech Republic*. And quite obviously, the Netherlands. That's actually more countries than the US/Canada combo, but it looks even more pathetic.

* - the tourist guide consistently referred to the "Chick Republic", which is a gross overstatement. And you can imagine the dissapointment when we went to a nature reserve called "Chick Paradise"...

Family origins is more fun.

I've been wracking my brains, trying to remember if I've been to Spain. I don't think I have - one year my family went there on holiday, but I was living in a squat in London that summer. I will probably go to Spain - and Portugal, again - one day, but not in a hurry. It's too easy. For a weekend away I could go to Barcelona, I guess - but there are lots of other cities I'd like to go to for a long weekend - St. Petersburg, Rome, Istanbul, New York, Vienna, Marrakesh. . . And for a week away I'd sooner go to Italy or Greece again. Or try Malta, Gozo, wherever - get a villa for a week.

I need a plan. At least two new countries per year. Bit optimistic, that, especially given everything else that's going on. Got a wedding to go to in Warsaw next year, so that's Poland taken care of. And maybe a villa somewhere afterwards - http://www.jamesvillas.co.uk/ will do the trick!

I've been all across America: while that only scores 0%, it's a bit like traveling across many small countries (some from the Twilight Zone) with quirky dialects and customs.

I've been to the Bahamas and Virgin Islands but thats hardly a life-altering experience.

I went into Canada as a child but either dont recall it or blocked the memory for some reason....

This will rapidly get too image-heavy, but before the hammer drops:

Zing!

(It took me a few minutes of contemplation to get Lee's comment, but now I am much amused by the image of my inadvertent vaporization.)

Heh.

Two of you have been to French Guiana!?! What is the attraction there? You work in the ESA??

"What is the attraction there?"

9.789 m/s^2

When we fly back to the UK in December, we'll be stopping in Sydney and Singapore. I'm not sure whether that should count or not.

But Simon's was VERY funny. When Sol System sits around the couch, he REALLY sits around the couch. Eat death, Jim Davis.

It's so... western. I need to travel more. I think I'm going back to europe next Summer. And possibly NZ.

Posted by Cartman (Member # 256) on :

Oceania is where I want to go next. Europe is getting somewhat, erh, old now. Though maybe some New World trekking would be cool too. Hmm.

(Simon's couch does look inviting and snug and comfortable and stuff.)

Only 4 countries for me. But hey, I've stayed in 3 of those for at least 6 months.

oH nO! The international globetrotter penis measurement standoph!

I've been to six european countries plus Malta, essentially doubleplusgood.
I won't tell you which euro countries because I don't like you.

Can't I claim Wales and Scotland as seperate countries? They do, after all. [/Tory Voice]

Still, I own Europe.

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

I see you didn't go to Andorra. [Big Grin]

Posted by Cartman (Member # 256) on :

Or to Portugal. Or to Italy. Or to Austria. Liam owns nothing.

They don't count.

Assuming I ever get enough money, India, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand are on my list of places to go. ALthough with my current bank account it'll be Riga with EasyJet.

"I've been to six european countries plus Malta..."

So, seven European countries, then.

Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :

Highlighting all of a big nation like the United States or Canada seems kind of misleading. Like, I've spent a weekend in Vancouver, B.C. and therefore I get to claim Baffin Island in my Extreme Adventure Coloring Book?

(Note: I have never been to Vancouver, B.C.)

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

Baffin Island has always seemed sorta intruiging.

I wouldn't mind to go to Antarctica... they don't allow that as an option on the site for the 'where you've been map' I see.
