fatally beat and stabbed a man to death then set his house on fire.

For a 400 lb man, that must have taken all day.

He's probably eating right for the first time in his life, and doesn't know it.

Prison food is supposed to be "balanced nutrition". THe same company that supplies my school with food also provides for the area prisons. And they claim to be nutritious. Doubtfull, unless ketchup counts as a serving of veggies.

Prison food tastes exactly like cafeteria food. Or at least the food from the jail I spent a night in once did. Anyway, this fatass is exemplary of America, isn't he? MmmNNNNN MOARRRRR BUTTERRRrnnnnn *huffff....puffffffffff*

What happened, did you try to steal rupees from the town wizard?

And you don't have to eat the food that's in the kitchen. If you have money in your account, you can always buy commissary food & live off of that. There were a bunch of guys I knew in the klink who did just that.

Mars: Nah. Tried to break into my high school. I was young and reckless I tell you! *shakes head* My 'accomplice' was 17 years old by a few weeks. He got a slap on the wrist, I got two years of court supervision...I hate that crap. It's like, 11:59:59PM and you break the law, you're a juvenile; one second later, you're goin' to jail, man.

You just had to learn some more knowledge, didn't you Daniel?
Even when they told you that you already knew more than enough to get by in life, and that you needed to leave some knowledge for the next nest of students to absorb. Well that's what happens if you try to get into a school-entity that is already done with you, and leech undeserved raw lore from its walls, it will defend itself out of pure reflex.

I think you just gave me an idea for a DnD adventure...

I think this guy should be in the same prison.

Is that twig sitting next to him his girlfriend? I'm sure we could get him indicted for sitting on and smothering someone if we really neeed to. [Wink]

*For some reason, the image of Family Guy's Stewie stuck under Peter Griffin's fat folds comes to mind.*

Even though I'm on the not-slim-as-a-slim-jim side of things myself, I cannot understand how someone could let their weight get that out of hand. Even if they don't have the piece of mind to notice, I don't know how their loved ones can fail to do something about it. Maybe bring it to the attention of a medical professional? THe excuse " He's just so lovable", or " They're just big boned" fails miserably once the person starts to suffocate from the weight of their own fat.

That Stewie scene had me laughing for like 5 minutes. The way he stumbled out of the room...

Maybe those people's loved ones care more about their perceived current happiness than their eventual real happiness after a lot of hard work and hatred. Or maybe they'd rather let them suffer than do all that hard work it'd take to motivate someone that deeply screwed up to lose the weight.

And I don't buy this new "fat is OK" "accept me the way I am" "I'm beautiful on the inside" movement - 300lbs is fucked up enough, but when you start talking about some of these people who are 400, 500, 700, 1,000lbs, just...no. There's something wrong with you. "Genetics" is not an excuse for that kind of obesity. Same goes for the anorexic people who have decided it's also a 'valid lifestyle' choice.

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

I really doubt that anorexic people have decided to become so because of a "lifestyle choice".

Posted by Daniel Butler (Member # 1689) on :

I didn't mean all of them, I meant the ones that have. You haven't heard of these people? There are groups dedicated to the idea that anorexia is a personal choice, that it's not a disease, and that people that skinny are attractive. They have websites, meetings, advocacy groups...

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

Oh yeah, I know. But you can't choose to be anorexic, anymore than you can chose to be allergic to nuts.

People being idiots makes it even harder for people who are genuinely ill.

but why do idiots breed more often? I mean, all dwarwinian here, shouldn't there be LESS idiots?

Posted by Saltah'na (Member # 33) on :

Unfortunately the laws that be demand that idiots be given the same rights as non-idiots. It's that discrimination thing.

Posted by Daniel Butler (Member # 1689) on :

I think there are fewer idiots now than in antiquity, but that may just be an artifact of continued scientific progress (in fact, it probably is, but it helps me to retain hope for humanity to believe otherwise). Maybe one day there will be very few left...

Unless you're the kind of stupid that makes you walk off a cliff or stick your head out of a moving train or something, just being an idiot doesn't stop you from having babies. (Hell, if anything, it probably makes you more likely.)

There's only more idiots now than in antiquity because the population has exploded so vastly since then.
All of populace of entire the Greek Golden Age would likely fit in today's New York at any given time.
Go read the amazing Pessimist's Guide To History and witness all the times nature tried very hard to limit our numbers, to no avail.

Medical Science is largely smart people being used by large corperation to keep sheep alive and sickly to buy more medicine.

Posted by Daniel Butler (Member # 1689) on :

No, I said, I think there are fewer idiots now, not more. (Proportionally, of course.) But it's mainly just a wishful thinking type self-delusion.

I know what you said, but I disagree: the adverage person back then had to grow up a lot quicker and be more shrewd.
Consider that by fifteen, a person was an adult- the adverage fifiteen year old can barely tie his shoes without mommy's help, much less manage his own money, earn a living and defend himself.

Most people from antiquity, despite a general lack of undersatanding of sciences we take for granted would consider us a nation of idiots- if only for the slights we allow to go unanswered.

Plus, in spite of feely available knowledge and conpulsory education, most people are worthless tools.
Really- how many surveys show that many people think the sun revolves around the Earth?
Fuck sakes.

Meh, I misread you. My bad.

Well, depends on if by idiot you mean 'has no common sense' or 'has no scientific and/or academic knowledge.' I prefer the latter definition, reserving 'fool' for the former. In which case I agree, most old peasants would call us a nation of fools.

Funny, I was just talking about that sun-round-the-earth bit with a friend of mine from the UK about an hour ago. I suggested we change the word 'sunrise,' for example, to 'earthrotatesintothesunlight.' Maybe it's just the language that confuses weak minds [Razz] (joke, of course).
