And if that wasn't enough, there's also that obscure little law known as the Digital Millenium Copyright Act which has the potential to make our real and digital lives very difficult.
I sometimes wonder how closely Orwell's 1984 would've come to resemble our current society had the man been around a little bit longer.

the ACLU is challenging the DMCA, so hopefully it'll go buh-bye. the DMCA isn't as bad as the RIAA trying to make it legal for copyright holders to hack computers that might have pirated material. the thought makes me want to kiss my hardware firewall.
