Falwell had better hope i never become Emperor. he is towards the top of a long list of people who will be living short, very uncomfortable lives.

I think Christians were terrorists. They burned cities in the Middle East and killed/raped women and children. They hung so-called "witches" to purge sinners among them. They oppress and kill homosexuals for being who they are.

You know, if you really think about it, were Jesus to come back today he'd be crucified AGAIN. I mean, if a guy came down the street and said "I am the Son of God, drop everything and follow me," how would Christians react?

Posted by EdipisReks (Member # 510) on :

with bullets, probably. actually, anyone saying they were the son of god would probably be institutionalized (and with good reason).

Or burned to the ground w/ the rest of their cult.

Falwell: "Islam was founded on violence."

Muslims: "No it wasn't! And we'll prove it by rioting and killing people!"

Honestly, what were they thinking? They go out for the sole purpose of protesting what he said, and immediately start acting in a manner to support his statement! How dumb can people get?

very.

According to current believe systems, Jesus is supposed to get all the true christians off the planet in a great instantaneous disappearance. I guess he has transporters.

So they won't have to worry about not recognizing hime for what he is. In fact: according to my Grandmother, the quickest way to tell if somebody is a false prophet is if they claim to be the Son of God. Jesus "ain't got the need" to do that, he'll show you, not tell.

Regardless of all that, even many Christians don't think very highly of Falwell. Though powerful, he's viewed as a political leech in many sectors, who, as the old saying goes, is serving too many masters.

I would also like to point out that most Christians are not evil witch burning scum, in the same way that most Muslims are not strapping C-4 to their chests.

Though I'm certainly not a Christian, it's beginning to bother me that every thread I see on the net regarding their religion usually has at least one post that mentions witch burning and rampant abuse of homosexuals or so forth.

As if that's all they ever do/did. Please.

To get all specific on that note, orthodox or mainstream Christian doctrine, of all flavors that I am aware of, holds that Christ's return will be a transcendant event, whose value will be self-evident. (The skies rolled back, as it were.) As chronicled in the weird "Revelation" or the highly entertaining "Apocamon."

Point of view is everything....

Were Terrorists, Christians???? Some are still are, look at the doctors killed and clinics burned in the name of God....

If I sit here eating a hamburger and calling myself a Hindu, does that make it so?

By the gods of Vishnu, that is hilarious... [Big Grin]

If you say you're a Hindu, who is anyone to say you're not?

Posted by Mucus (Member # 24) on :

Not to mention the slight problem that "religion" is supposed to describe what you believe and not what you do.
You could be the most virtuous soul on Earth, with the flowers blooming when you walk past and the birds chirping, but according to Christians....if you don't believe in God you're either going to purgatory or hell depending on which flavour you're talking to.
By the same token, you could be a Christian and if you kill someone, you're still a Christian....all you've done is just sinned.

If you say you're a Hindu, who is anyone to say you're not?

Anyone who knows the definition of Hindu, of course.

Some people miss out on the whole reality being a question of perception joke. It's a shame, really. The world could use a few good transcendental jokes right about now.

Oh come on, that is exgarrating just a teensy weensy little bit. There are plenty of Christians who adopt the "as long as a person basically lives a good life, he'll get into heaven whether he believes in God or not" approach.

And yes, Tim doesn't want to go to heaven. But Tim is a strange sort who likes to put snails on his face before bedtime, so we'll ignore him.

Yeah, there are many Christians who feel that way. But there are also many who believe you are doomed to damnation without Jesus living in your heart. (Which sounds disgusting, now that I think of it.) He wasn't exaggerating on that score.

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

Well, it depends on how you define "many". Half of all Christians? A third? Or a really quite small percentage that makes up for it by shouting a lot?

Posted by EdipisReks (Member # 510) on :

i'd say, 2700% exactly.

I realize that what I'm about to say is completely unpopular with some...

But what the hell would people fight about if their wasn't any religion???

Islam hate Christians.
Christians disagree with Islam and muslims

Catholics disagree with protestants...

Get rid of all that shit .. what the fuck would people fight about??

Seems to me the difference of opinions these days have more to do with whose God we should worship...

Oh sure.. there's political rhetoric there... sure... there fundamental prides being hurt here..

I still think that at the very bottom of all this .. Religious beliefs come to the very heart of the wars being sprung here..

NOW... imagine a world without religion...
I know .. some of you can't even go there... but work with me ... Cuz.. everyone knows i'm going to hell anyways...

what the hell would we fight about... Osama wouldn't be pissed at the states... The states wouldn't even know who that fucker is....

The WTC towers would still be standing .. cuz al quaeda militants wouldn't exist ... and there would be no need for Jihad. (holy war --- whatever)

Israel wouldn't be pissed at all... Palastines would have nothing to fight the jews for ...

Iraq ... well.... *shrugs* I'm lost on that one ... maybe their women would have more equality......

Saudis wouldn't feel the need to mutilate their women to keep them pure (SOME saudis .. not all -- God forbid I'm not politically correct).

Canadian schools wouldn't be closed down because they spoke the lord's prayer ...

Like I said .. i'm just asking hard questions hypothetically....

I've never claimed to be a religious man ... religion has done nothing but played a negative part in my life .. but for some... HEY... It's done them some good -- and that's their freedom and right...

but you know what... you'll never see an agnostic man go to war cuz someone else didn't believe that his god was better than his...

It just all seems like a proverbial pissing contest... *Sigh* Just venting..

Plain old greed, I suspect.

Sports. Pointless PS2 vs GC vs X-Box arguments. The length of the Defiant. Whether April o Neil would be a better shag than Teela. That sort of thing.

It is either Jeremy Teela, a US Biathlete or some woman from He-Man comics

Posted by EdipisReks (Member # 510) on :

considering that the term "he-bone" was used in conjunction with the name Teela, it is obviously the Teela from Masters of the Universe.

BTW, that April/Teela question is a poser. i still havent gotten an answer. damn indecision.

I have yet to see "new" Teela. Sorry.

The last time I saw a He-Man cartoon, I was about four. I'm afraid I don't remember any names except "He-Man", "Skeletor", and "Greyskull".

The new Teela is about twelve, so, with Liam's penchance for underage girls, she'd probably tickle his fancy.

How old's Misty, I wonder...

I don't think Adam is into girls yet. He is a muscular nine year old, I think.

They are both "in their teens." Yay for research.

And Teela has better tits than she ever did in the 80s.

Of course, so does every animated girl on TV.

What's with that, anyway?

Unemployed again through a series of decisions that I'm still confused over. Still uncharged & unincarcerated. Missing the woman he loves a lot, a lot, a lot. A lot.

And doing a lot of model building. Figures that my VCR would finally crap out at this point in time. It's not even REALLY broken; it just won't accept the tape correctly..or at all. Kind of. Bah.
