I happened to be over at Trekweb earlier today and noticed that Star Trek DS9 and Voyager have been nominated for a number of emmy awards. They include outstanding art direction (DS9: Prodigal Daughter ), and outstanding special visual effects (DS9: What you Leave Behind Voyager: Dark Frontier, Thirty Days, Timeless , among others. Even William Shatner got a nomination, well, his head anyway For the complete list of Star Trek nominations, go to emmy list at trekweb. Congratulations are definitely in order for that small army of people that make these shows possible In total, Voyager got 3 nominations, DS9 1 nomination. X-Files got eight nominations. For all you ever wanted to know (and more) about the nominations, here is the list at the official site ------------------ "But, it was so artistically done." -Grand Admiral Thrawn [This message has been edited by Chimaera (edited July 22, 1999).]

With the exception of TR2070, Trek has basically swept VFX this year... Yahoo!------------------ "They dont call it show business for nothing. This is an ugly, ugly, ugly, ugly town in many, many ways. But big f*cking deal. Big business is ugly. The world is ugly. Our job is to make our little piece of it better. What I can't understand is why WYLB is being nominated, when over 50% of the special effects is nothing but stock footage...........------------------ I can resist anything....... Except Temptation

A.) I'd hazard a guess that your fifty percent figure is too high.B.) It's not what you use, it's how you use it. Of course, these technical awards, while well deserved, do little to sooth the lack of recognition for some outstanding acting. Not that Trek is alone in being overlooked, so it isn't that surprising. ------------------ "We kid around a lot about people who are cyclopses, but seriously; if you're a mythic figure you've got challenges that no one should have to deal with." -- John Flansburgh

Fifty percent is far too high, indeed. And who says they know that it's reused? I'm not telling them... And it was all used effectively, so... If Trek can't win the optical category, we're in trouble... ------------------ Elim Garak: "Oh, it's just Garak. Plain, simple Garak. Now, good day to you, Doctor.
