(Just saw "the Pegasus" - TNG - again, good ep.) Pressman has been promoted to admiral, shortly after the Pegasus incident (when he was still a captain - that was 12 years before the episode) yet Picard has been a captain since 2355 (15 years) and he hasn't been promoted! So, does SF has a special preference for certain officers, or...? (I'd say that Pressman is about the same age as Picard, too - so that can't be a factor) ------------------ "Cry havoc and let's slip the dogs of Evil"

Picard was offered a position in the Admiralty, but declined (Coming of Age if I recall). Also it is very likely that Picard has not sought a position in the Admiralty. We've seen Admirals even younger than Picard, Admiral Ross for instance.------------------ "A gathering of Angels appeared above my head. Or perhaps a part of a greater conspiracy involving the Pegasus.------------------ I can resist anything....... Except Temptation

Actually, I think I'd place Pressman younger than Picard, too. And, as mentioned, Picard's still a captain because he wants to be. Kirk got promoted to admiral and hated it. If he had had a choice, I'm sure he would have stayed a captain. Of course, he ended up a captain again, anyway, but that's a different matter entirely... :-) ------------------ "If you attempt to return the device to the store, and you are missing one single peanut, the store personnel will laugh in the chilling manner exhibited by Joseph Stalin just after he enslaved Eastern Europe."
