As in canonizing popes and cardinals.I've always heard canon refer to the rules and aspects of the world of a person's writing, as with the ecompassing saga of Star Trek. The works of a writer that have been accepted as authentic: the entire Sherlock Holmes canon.. ------------------ -Small Computer Systems Interface "Scuzzy" Emperor Operator of the Goulag Hotel, maintainer of the workhouses. We must not forget that the subjection of women is so complete, and dates from such distant ages, that we are often unwilling to recognize the gulf that separates them from us." No, saints are canonized. Which fits the definition in that they're adding the saints to the official, canonical list of people who are saints.------------------ "It's like the Star of David or something. But without the whole Judaism thing." -Frank Gerratana, 17-Aug-2000

Luckily you didn't type cannon. LOL Canon is basically "fact" for a series or collection of books, movies, tv series, comics, etc. The "actual events" of a fictious universe. Star Trek, Star Wars both are heavily controversialized canon-wise because of the sheer volume of work made about their universes. In other words, it's tough to say what "did" happen and "didn't" between all the information. TV/Movies are generally the highest in regard for official or real occurences. Scripts, guides, manuals, and the like are second followed by books then comics.------------------ Where's the bathroom on this ship?
