After I watched Flesh and Blood, my news channel had an interview with Rick Berman about the next Star Trek movie. The thing that stuck to my mind was that there will be Romulans in the next film. Does anyone want to guess what kind of nemesis will Picard go up against or if Sela will show up?

*checks title* Or if a Starfleet security-person (starring Gene Hackman) endlessly pursues a Ketracel-shipping old romulan near the NZ!

Oh my GOD...
I certainly hope that the ancient 'Picard is actually a Romulan' rumor isn't going to be used...

"Picard is a Romulan" rumor -- never heard it, want to explain in more detail?

Man, I was hoping it would snow when I woke up ... ugh

Please no Sela.

It was a rumor for First Contact I believe. It was rumored that the Romulans were the major bad guys. In the movie we would find out that Picard was a Romulan and that his memory would return. Then the Romulans would take him back and get all his knowledge.

Eventually we heard that the Rumolans would not be in First Contact, and the rumor died.

No way! That would be totally unbelieveable. With all the times that Crusher has examined him? She would've figured it out by now.

Oh, come on. Gotta have Sela. If it centers around the Rommies, then it probably has to do with the whole Reunification thing I've been harping on for a year or two.

But since we're talking about Rommies and Sela, tell me: what evidence do we have that the alternate Tasha Yar is dead? The word of her Romulan daughter? She had every reason to lie to Picard about that. For all we know, she could still be alive in some Romulan prison somewhere. She'd be Picard's age by now, but...

True, so she can replace Crusher.... Or Data can find out if there is a difference between younger and older woman....

I want to see them go back in time and save Tasha, keeping Sela from ever being born. Would require some makeup for Mrs Crosby, but they have been keeping Data young for some time now.

When did we last Sela? The Klingon "civil war" right?

I mean, whose to say she's even a "power" in the Romulan government anymore? She may have been removed from command following her failure to get reinforcements through (her own damn fault for being too lazy to "fly around" the Federation ships...)

Heck, she could've died fighting the Dominion, or in the Tal'shiar attack on the Founder Homeworld ...

I for one hope they leave Sela alone. Besides which, Sela is the kind of characters that would be hard to explain to non-Trek movie-goers, so she'll probably be left out ...

Sela was last seen in the "Unification" two-parter, getting outwitted by Picard, Data, and Spock on Romulus.

Ah! See -- there we go, she bungles the planned invasion of Vulcan, so what good is she? Especially after the whole fiasco involving the Klingon Civil War ... sheesh ... I bet the Praetor wasn't too very happy ...

In my dream story, Sela has taken the Romulans who don't want the Alliance with the Feds and Klingons to continue after the war, and joined forces with the equally unhappy Breen. In the begining of the film, ships are being surprise attacked by overwhelming numbers, putting everyone on alert, and the fight is on. They said at one point that they wanted an action film, and there's nothing like blowing up ships.

Yes, it's not gunfights. There's something lost in disintegrating someone, compared to an ol' .44.

Kinda like hanging up the phone for dramatic effect in the old days. You could slam the reciever on the cradle for anger, now you can only push a button, smaller than your pinky-toe nail.

Well, I can't see ANYone in the Alpha Quadrant teaming up with the Breen... ever again... they have just shown to be the WORST! Worse than even the Romulans... no offence to any Romulans present...

I should point out that if there are any Romulans present, I shall be forced to take them outside and slap them silly, until they take off the fake ears, and go and get a proper job. Not one in a comic shop.

I've read where Ron Moore has basically hinted that the Romulans are to appear in Trek 10. Now weither that be true or not, time will tell.

But why not? Klingon's and Borg have hogged up the big screen for the biggest majority of the Trek films. It's time to drag the Romulans out of the proverbial closet, dress em' up and finally GIVE them their moment of fame. :-)

Seeing as how Ron Moore is going to have about as much input into the next Trek film as Bugsy Malone, I'm not quite sure what to make of that.

Yeah...

Anyway, if ST:X is going to be about Romulans, I envision this:

After the Dominion wars, the pact between the Feds, Klingons and Romulans is maintained. The Rommies, however, are not so happy to be partners with the Klingons, and vice versa. They start fighting, the Feds intervene, and we get 90 minutes of pure space action. Rommies abusing the Neutral Zone (which has been cancelled for some reason, during the alliance) to kick the Feds' butts, the Breen and the Cardies join the fight, and we get a complete Alpha Quadrant war. In the (happy) end, everyone's friends again, the Rommies and the Vulcans are re-unified, the Klingons, the Cardies and the Rommies join the Federation...

I hope it won't be that way...

I don't see how the Cardies could fight ...

Seeing as Cardassia is more than likely occupied and their military equipment is under Alliance custody ...

Yeah, if it happened that way, I would *never* go to a Trek film or watch an episode of Trek ever again ... that would be the .40 to the brain of the Star Trek franchise ...

Maybe Trek 10 will be a spy thriller ala "The Hunt for Red October". Only with Romulans and a brand new, bad-ass Romulan warship.

And Sela could be the villian!

OK. I'll be quiet now.

"Yeah, if it happened that way, I would *never* go to a Trek film or watch an episode of Trek ever again ... that would be the .40 to the brain of the Star Trek franchise ..."

Now, you get people who say this, but then you also get people who say:
"Yeah, Voyager's crap, but it's Trek, so I'll watch it anyway."

Or, as a variation:
"Voyager's crap, so I'll NEVER EVER WATCH STAR TREK AGAIN!"

Jeez, what's wrong with judging every film and TV series on it's own merit. I read Peter Parker. Doesn't mean I'm gonna rush out and buy "Amazing Spider-Man", just because it's part of the same "franchise".

I've just realised that the above comments make me look like some saddo who reads comic books. But I'm not a pathetic loser who reads comics cause he has no friends. No, I read them because all the girls in them have really big tits.
