Who would you choose, and why? And what starship would you command? Any starship, any character (from any series, so you could take Ensign Chekov from TOS, or Commander Chekov from the movies -- but not both! -- for example).

For myself, I'd like to command an Akira-Class starship ... the USS Valor.

I'd want Lt. Worf (from 3rd - 7th season TNG) as my Tactical and Security Officer for obvious reasons -- he's a Klingon, he's big, he's imposing, and he gets the job done well.

Dr. Julian Bashir (from late DS9) is an arrogant prick, I'll give him that, but he's also a dammed fine doctor, and I'd be proud for him to be my Chief Medical Officer.

Commander William T. Riker (from 3rd season TNG) as my Executive Officer for the simple reason that Riker is probably the most qualified XO I think I've ever seen in Trek ... he knows his job, and he's not afraid to call the captain aside when the CO tries to go outside of his job.

For Operations, I think I would want both Lt. Commander Data and Ensign Harry Kim with Kim as either Mission Ops or relief Ops officer.

Lt (jg) Geordi LaForge for helm -- what better than having a blind man steer the starship? Besides, it's kind of ironic, ain't it?

Obviously, I'd need another Conn officer at some point, so Sulu from TMP -- giving him the rank of Lt. Commander, he could also act as second officer.

Spock as Science Officer. Why not, can you figure a better position for him than Science Officer? Taking him from "The Cage", he would be a Lieutenant.

Miles O'Brien as Chief Engineering Officer. He's got the knowledge, he could handle it, especially with Nog and Barclay as his assistants.

I'd bring Chekov (from TMP) aboard as a generic "Bridge Officer" (similar to Worf's role in early TNG). He would fill in at whatever stations were empty at the moment.

Senior Command Staff
Capt. Jeff Benson -- CO
Cmdr. Will Riker -- XO (1st officer)
LtCmdr. Sulu -- Helm (2nd Officer)
LtCmdr. Data -- Ops (3rd Officer)
Lt Spock -- Science Officer (4th Officer)
Lt Worf -- Tactical/Security (5th Officer)
Lt Chekov -- Bridge Officer (6th Officer)
Chief Miles O'Brien -- CEO (not part of COC)
Dr. Julian Bashir -- CMO (not part of COC)

Other Senior Officers (not command)
Lt (jg) LaForge -- Relief Helm
Ens Harry Kim -- Relief Ops/Mission Ops
Nog -- Assistant CEO
Barclay -- Assistant CEO

Ship: U.S.S. Audacious, New Orleans class
She has bigguns!

Capt: ME!

XO: definitely Riker, although he deserves his own ship.

Senior Tac.: Worf, THE Tac-man!

Tac 2 (Hey, it's an Orleans class!): Seven of Nine. She knows stuff.

Science: Spock, the funniest Vulcan.

CONN: Tom Paris, pilot extra-ordinaire

Ops: Lt. Cmdr. Data, with emochip. Also assistent science officer and Second Officer.

Chief Engineer: O'Brien, as a full Lt., like he was in TNG!

Chief Medical: Pulaski. She was good, and didn't have an annoying son.

Am I forgetting anyone?
Ah, yes! Bartender: Garak. I like his character.

-----

Or the alternative crew, for the stressed captain of the U.S.S. Babe, Babe class

XO: 'Number One' from The Cage
Tac.: Tasha Yar
Science: Seven of Nine
CONN: Stadi
OPS: Dax (Jadzi -> Ezri)
Chief Engineer: Torres
Chief Medical: Selar

Well, why not La Forge as the Chief Engineer? He's good, and I would even think he's better than O'Brien.

To summarize, although you should read it all...

Captain: Jean Luc Picard
First Officer: Benjamin Sisko
Chief Engineer: Data
Chief of Security: Odo
Science Officer/ Away Team Commander: Mr. Spock
Chief Medical Officer: The Holographic Doctor
Tactical Officer: Tuvok
Chief of Operations (Ops): Jadzia Dax
Helm/ Navigator: Tom Paris
Ship Counselor: Guinan
Starship: The U.S.S. Prometheus

I must say Sisko did the best dogfight of all Trek during the battle of the mirror universe, as helmsman of their Defiant, but he's seriously over-qualified...

I'm going to have to go with the Prometheus since it is a deep space explorer. I'm all about the science.
Ship: USS Dark Matter

Captain: Me duh!

XO: Shelby
She is like Riker in most respects so I think she would do a really good job

Tactical: Worf
Do I even need to explain this

CMO: Julian Bashier
He's good and arrogent enough to never quit. Nobody else even comes close.

Science: Nella Daren
She is damn good and knows how to get things done no matter whos toes she steps on.

Engineer: Geordi
Again do I need to explain this.

Helm: Paris
He knows how to fly and when to speak up. Wouldn't want anyone else there.

Ops: Kim
I know he is still an ensign but dammit he's good.

Others I would want onboard

Medical: Ogawa
Science: Dax, Taitt
Engineering: O'Brian, Nog

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the weaponry to make the difference.

Ship: we'll get to that in a second. We're also assuming that the people below are as they first appeared on their respective shows.

Captain: Me

XO - Kira
CMO - Crusher
Tactical - Shelby
Engineer - B'ellana
Helm - Ro
Ops - Robin Lefler
Counsellor - Troi *and* Ezri
Science - Jadzia

I would staff my ship with these people: the best and the brightest. And the cutest. And the cuddliest. And the hottest. And all the rest of the crew would be international female models with brains and personality exceeding even the most cliched of Amazon B-Movies. Who demonstrate only the fiercest loyalty to their captain.

As for the ship itself, I don't care what class it is, as long as the adjoining ready room has shag carpets and a vibrating bed.

Yeah, baby. Yeah.

Mark <-- Meds, please.

PS - maybe I should design a bridge just for this...

I love these build your own crew threads...

CO: Captain Sanders (From the Malinche, "For The Uniform")

XO: Commander Riker (Although maybe he should be the captain...)

CTO: Lieutenant Zak Kebron (From New Frontier)

Helm: Lieutenant Mark McHenry (Also from New Frontier, he's wicked! Much better than Paris...)

Ops: Lieutenant Harry Kim (Give the guy a promotion!)

CEO: Scotty. No one beats Scotty.

CMO: Lieutenant Bashir (The best damned doctor in the fleet)

CSO: Lieutenant Soleta (Also from New Frontier, who better than a Vulcan for science?)

Counselor: Lieutenant Ezri Dax, I guess.

And of course you'd have to have Barclay on there somewhere...

Starship: USS Prometheus NX-74913 (No Question)

CO: Vice-Admiral Michael T. Colorge (Me)

XO: Captain William T. Riker (Better than Chakotay)

CTO: Commander Worf (He would hate being ambassador)

CSO: Dr. Annika Hansen (I have Data at Ops)

CMO: EMH Mark-2 (The EMH Mark-1 doesn't have hair)

OPS: Commander Data (I don't want Kim onboard)

Helm: Lt. Nog (I may need a discount on Romulan ale)

CEO: Lt. Cmdr. Geordie LaForge (He's the best)

Counselor/Morale Officer: Neelix (He's replaceable)

USS Meridian - Prometheus-Class (I was gonna go with Nebula, but then I remembered how much I liked the Prommie)

Commanding Officer - Capt. Cole Bozman

that's me, duh.

First Officer - Cmdr. Spock

The obvious foil for any emotional human such as myself. Spock is the quintessential first officer -- he knows when (and how) to speak to his CO when he's acting badly (no pun intended).

Flight Controller - Ens. Rager (from "Relics")

Well, as good a pilot as Tom Paris is, I find his shallow appreciation of "20th century culture" distasteful. Also, if he wasn't on Voyager, he'd be in jail. Plus Rager's one of the few conn officers actually willing to move the ship on more than one axis!

Chief of Operations - Lt. Cmdr. Data

Data's the obvious choice here, due to his android nature. Plus we'd get plenty of "exploring humanity" shows out of it.

Tactical/Security - Lt. Cmdr. Tuvok

I'd want someone cool and in control at the weapons station. Can't get much more in control than "Mr. Vulcan".

Chief Science Officer/Second Officer - Lt. Cmdr. Jadzia Dax

Spock would be the obvious choice for science, but I like Dax more. C'mon, it's _Dax_! Plus I think she has a good amount of command experience, thanks to the Defiant, so she's my choice for second officer as well.

Chief Engineer - Chief Miles O'Brien

Miles is the perfect choice for chief engineer, because he doesn't overestimate his repair times, he isn't a total failure with women, and he doesn't punch people in the nose when he doesn't get his way.

Chief Medical Officer - Dr. Leonard McCoy

He wrote the book on alien physiology. Plus you gotta have him and Spock together.

also:

Assistant Chief Engineer - Lt. Joseph Carey (back from oblivion!)
Transporter Chief/Bridge Officer - Mr. Kyle
Nurse - Ens. Alyssa Ogawa
