There were several first season eps that I liked alot though they weren't followed up on very well. The Vidians were scary as hell and should've been equal in presence with the Kazon as bad guys in seasons one and two.
Real Life made me cry.
Message in a Bottle and Equinox were both good, though they both felt a little bit like "Let's-show-a-new-ship-class-and-the-epsode-will-be-cool" episodes. I like both new ship classes but I thought that the story of the Equinox's experience in the DQ was way too hurried, way too underexplained, and way too short changed. The crew should've gotten away and been an ongoing thing.

I would have to say 'Equinox' has been my fav so far. I really liked John Savage as Captain Ransom. For some reason I was compelled by the story of their desperation, and I liked his redemption and noble death. I mean having the aliens be souped up versions of Slimer from Ghostbusters was cheesey, but I really liked the story.
I also enjoyed "Basics Pt I & II". I think because of the Suder character and his longing to give something back to the crew. I mean I liked him in "Meld", but that mostly supported why I enjoyed "Basics" so much. I love when the Kazon in the brig takes the accelerant and grows so much that he explodes.
"Message in a Bottle" was good, but mostly because of the ship. I mean, I liked the idea of the huge comm array, but Andy Dick bugs me. I had a hard time believing he could have been an EMH.

Zimmerman probably picked his replacement. Mark IIs were presumably introduced because no one could stomach the personality of the MK I. Since MK I was patterned after Zimmerman's personality, having someone who is way more likable than him for the second holodoc would be a major boot to the ego, so he was subconsciously compelled to choose someone whose personality was equally bad (IMO much worse)but in a different way.

I am surprised that there was only one mention of "Timeless". I remember the episode going over quite well around here, and it is by far the best (in many different ways) in my own humble opinion.
Posted by Starship Voyager on :
Well, it's been a while, but after finding out the passwords have been changed, here I am once again. My favourite Voyager episodes include:
MEMORABLE EPISODES Timeless Living Witness Message in a Bottle
EPISODES THAT MADE MY EYES WATER Resistance (with Caylem and his "daughter" Kathryn) Course: Oblivion (poof!) The Gift One Small Step (last scene: the torpedo casket) Blink of an Eye (seeing the old man just look up into the stars...)
FOR A LAUGH Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy Bride of Chaotica! The Q and the Grey Live Fast and Prosper
Living Witness and Timeless were definately good. Seeing the bridge crew laying there, frozen and dead was definately memorable.
What Voyager lost after the first couple seasons was the ongoing subplots. Remember the Maquis conspirator story arc right before Basics. They had minor characters recurring all the time. It really filled out the ship a little and gave some reality to the fact that, as a small ship all alone, everybody would play a role in the overall story.
Now it's pretty much just about the senior staff again.

Okay, so what are everyone's FIVE WORST episodes? Some people could probably rifle off a hundred (and reasonable explanations why), but what episodes TOP everyone's list.
Oh, and "Threshold" doesn't count.
While on topic, "Timeless" is still my all time favorite.

O.K., here's a worst episode: This season seven's very own "Regression" which I just had the opportunity to see again on tape... $ $ $ $ $ $ We never really get an explanation as to why any of it is happening, how the Bajoran freak was able to transmit to Tuvok, why he activated Tuvok when he did, how he knew where they were, ANYTHING! like 3/4 of the episode his spent figuring out who the attacker is and why, then the whole plot is reversed for no apparent reason in the last 15 minutes. I almost vomited. What a pointless experience.

I don't think anyone's mentioned "Hope and Fear" yet. I loved that ep.

$ $ $ I have to add to my previous post. I guess they did explain how the Vedek transmitted to Tuvok (I must of slept through that part). Though why he would want the Maquis to take over the ship is still beyond me.

Maybe as some sort of twisted revenge against the Maquis onboard, which he might feel had betrayed the cause?

All I know is that he was pissed becaus ehe got kicked out of the Maquis. He brainwashed Tuvok thinking he would just go back undercover with the Maquis like before. I still don't see how revenge translates into taking over the ship. Blowing the ship up, maybe. $ $ $ $ Another add to the worst episodes: The Return of Kes (and then some). What was it called, "Rage"? Now the idea to have Kes come back was great. But they only had one shot. They can't do it again or it will ruin it. I'm just dissappointed with what they did with it. And how the Hell is she going to make it back to Ocampa in that little ship? Does she still have the ability to propel starships? Why didn't she give Voyager a nudge in the butt again after Janeway straightened her out?

I saw that Bernd mentioned "Distant Origin". I liked this episode too, and was very surprised that I did. I remember seeing the ads and thinking that it was a really, really lame idea for an ep (dinosaurs come on)but the episode itself was good enough to get past the stupid crap.

No-one think "Nemesis" counts as a good one? Chakotay's parting shot, "I wish it were as easy to stop hating as to start," really struck home. By the end of his 'indoctrination', you really knew what his hate felt like, just like in "Frame of Mind" you knew what it was to be mad.
IMHO, at least.

Hi i'm new just thought i'd say hi by agreeing with Eclispe in the "Nemisis"-is-a-good-one thought, but "Frame of mind" did annoy me a little.Sorry =:}it was too indulgant in the whole madness thingy..yeah i know that was the point....

I'm sorry, but I thought NEMISIS totally blew. It was an typical Chakotay vehicle that went nowhere. The pig english was a stupid idea. The Vietnam motief was obvious and poorly done.
Personaly I think that Reletivity, Message in a Bottle and Timeless are my favs. I also liked Distant Origin and Year of Hell. There is just something very appealing about seeing Voyager and especially Janeway, going up in a cloud of smoke, fire and scrap tritanium

From a purely "entertaining" point-of-view, and ignoring continuity, and providing you don't think too hard (phew, long list), Voyager tends to be at it's best when doing Big Epic Two Parters.
Future's End, Scorpion, Dark Frontier, Year of Hell. Yeah, so some rewrite continuity. But they are all tremendous fun, and often manage to get that Big Epic feel that TNG rarely managed to get.

The problem with the Big Epic Two Parters is that they are isolated within the series. They don't really ever connect to the rest of the show. It's just like the series is going along, la dee da, and then, whoop, all of a sudden BIG FLASHY TWO PARTER WITH LOTS OF SPECIAL EFFECTS AND OH OH OH!! then back to the series as usual with no mention of what just happened and whoop we've left the whole thing far behind. See, real life has ramifications. That's the biggest problem I have with the two parters.
------------------ "A gathering of Angels appeared above my head. They sang to me this song of hope, and this is what they said..." -Styx
I like the fact that the two parters don't have any bearing on the rest of the series. It makes it a bit more exciting ie year of hell, that one was really good, i treid to get my flatmates in it at taht point.....did not work unfortunatly. The one where they go back to 1990s LA is very annoying and is always being put on tv. Is it me or does that one iust not make any sense, what was that whole A to B to C paradox thing, oh and i really hope they got the fashion in that episode wrong everybody did seem to look really bad.

Oy! You pickin' on American fashion (or lack of same)? Actually, from what I saw, they got it about right. I thought Janeway and Chakotay looked pretty good though. I actually didn't mind Future's End too much. I didn't care for Year of Hell mostly because of the fact that the whole ended up never happening. Other than that though, I thought the effects were really cool. The ship ripping apart, the escape pods jettisoning...very groovy.
------------------ "A gathering of Angels appeared above my head. They sang to me this song of hope, and this is what they said..." -Styx
Actually I feel that YOH is often hard done by. It has some terrific character moments: My absolute favourite is the scenes between Seven and Tuvok - they were so touching. Janeway hugging Tuvok. The Doctor loosing it. Tom really ready to stick it to Annorax. The ending though - its so... wow... and I'm not talking about effects, I talking about Annorax putting down his work...
Also the sets in that episode were so lush - look at Annorax's ship... lovely - infact Voyager had some nice sets in season 4 - "Revulsion" was another episode with good sets.

Yeah, it was a bit of a cop out going back in time at the end. Its almost as if the writers could not think of an ending so it a bit of an i woke up and it was all a dream type of ending. Mind you they did get themselves into a bit of a mess, it would have a lot taken a lot of brain power to think of a good ending, but the special fx were pretty good.
I also liked the one when Kes came back, it was funny seeing kes in a really shitty mood, but it was a bit cliched towrds the end.
Sorry didn't mean to be rude about american fashions, its just a shock being reminded what people wore then, your right janeway did look quite good....it was everyone in the background that didn't!

Yeah, those late-90's fashions are incredibly gaudy. Good thing we have our one piece silver jumpsuits, as it's 2000 and all.

You know, Supernova, if you go back through old forum records, you should be able to find a little dissertation I posted explaining how the whole "Future's End" thing was possible. It just requires a timeline which we never saw to set up the loop.
