DATA DIES!

Does that help explain why 'its the Generation's final voyage together' ? its because, even if some of them take another voyage, it wont be the whole (next) Generation together because Data will be dead!

I know it makes you feel good, but really, anything that makes you grind your teeth isn't good for you. You should lay off the speed.

Thanks for the info.

I just guess they could rename B9/B4 "Data" and continue as per usual. Perhaps that's the backdoor TPTB have left themselves standing open just in case.
I know it wouldn't really be Data, but wtf.

yeah.. the gist of it (i mean , this is unofficial online script stuff, and therefore unverifiable) is that, after this happens, the crew kinda loses cohesion.

never tried speed. ive done stuff that makes me grind my teeth together though. its not that great and its nice to be clean.

What? No fuckin' spoiler warnings? Now I know Data dies. Thanks for runing the movie for me.

it needed to be done

Oh fittlesticks.

OK... but B9 is also played by Brent Spiner, right? So, even if Data dies... we've still got a character walking around that looks exactly like Data, yes?

I've seen the new preview, and it seems as though B9 turns out to be a bad guy... so maybe he isn't walking around at the end of the movie.

I dunno... I'm not going to sink so far as to read the script.

Neither am I - even though I like to be spoiled I don't want to know EVERYTHING that is going to happen.

Although I did read the first online script of First Contact at the time. Fortunately it was almost completely wrong... [Wink]

Wasn't that the one that involved Romulans or was that the 'early' script for Insurrection.

Fuck - yeah I've been spoiled - but I have already heard this rumour - you're just going by here-say and net-say so - I'm not THAT bothered (PLUS - telling me to stay away is just INVITING me to look!) [Smile]

I thought in that previous spoilerish thread that you had concrete fact as to the 'killing of a crewmember'.

It could be Troi? Bringing to fruition some of the All Good Things... events?

Plus everyone knew Spock would die in tWok... still a fantastic movie though - even after HEAPS of views. If Nemesis' existence relies solely on the fact that Data dies - then - it's not going to be a very good movie is it?

As I've said before Insurrection rested solely on the plot point that The Son'a = The Bak'u.

hey, maybe b4/b9 doesn't have a damn emotion chip and we could have a good "data" again after data dies! yay!

The Son'a = The Bak'u

What the fuck?! No Spoiler warning?!

Thanks man, you just blew the whole freakin' movie for me!

What kind of stuff will you reveal next **SPOLIER WARNING** that the Romulans come from Vulcans?

May I remind you that you probably asked for it when you clicked in the link in the first place.

Not that there was anything in Insurrection worth blowing*.

Take it easy Mike, don't get pissed! [Wink]

I don't understand all the fuss about spoilers anyway.
Come on, don't we all like to be spoiled a little? Isn't that one of the reasons we are here for?

And even if one doesn't want to be spoiled - just put $$$-Warnings in the title of the thread, and anybody "brave" enought to click on the link should have no reason for complaining afterwards.

Nuff said.

Well, I'm joking of course!! I'm going to click on a link that has my name in the title AREN'T I!?! ;o)

It's not a big spoiler - and might not even be true. It's just that the 'spoiler' in the other thread was sort of - to me - like 'hey it's pretty certain that this is the case' - and so my mind races and goes over everything I know.

As I mentioned in the other thread too, that it was spoilers for Ships in the movie, not spoilers for plot points. I mean I don't mind spoiling myself up to a point.

And I believe people that Jason A was JOKING (hopefully everyone got that).

I also said that people knew that Spock died in tWoK before it came out - still makes it a kick arse movie and was only a little point in a movie brimming with fantastic things to see. Plus you can watch tWoK and Spock's death again and again and not help get emotional!! The movie is just as Jerry Seinfeld said "The best of those movies".

SO, again that leads me to Insurrection - here's hoping that Nem isn't like that movie where the MAJOR plot point was the Bak'u/Son'a thing... once that's know it sorta ruins the rest of the movie. It all hinged on that one point.

Andrew

Data dies isn't a big part of the movie? HTF?

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

I think we can say it's pretty certain he dies, since it was a major point in the script that was online, which is turning out to be generally correctly.

Plus, Spiner has been saying for years that he wanted to quit playing Data. Perhaps they finally listened to him. (Which would rule out that he would return in the form of B4/B9 in the future.)

Yes guys, I was joking. (about Insurrection)
...and as far as Insurrection goes: for an odd numbered Trek film I really liked it.
Waaaay better than STV! [Wink] ...of course so is root canal....
Insurrection would have made for a really good two part episode, but there just was'nt enough drama for the big screen.

yeah most of the script i read has been played out before me in the trailers and other previews.

so you are saying that if you saw a door that said 'AndrewR don't open or you will die' you would open it?

Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :

Well, once Spiner realises no-one else is going to pay him the odd million to appear in a movie, he'll come crawling back. Perhaps they'll find some way to have B-9 age somehow so it doesn't look as if the android body has changed whenb it shouldn't have, which was always one of Spiner's problems over playing the role 15+ years later. . .

Posted by Austin Powers (Member # 250) on :

There's a simpler reason for the android looking older: simple wear and tear... [Wink]

No Mike.
