In it, the first few scenes show David Caruso having sex with a woman. They showed Caruso's rear end and one of the woman's breasts. This was actual nudity on network television, and it raised a lot of ruckus. Most telling, we saw the star's rear end before even meeting him.<p>WHen they showed Seven of Nine nude, all they showed was her back. Not her rear end, just the back. Back at the time it was really something. I think may have been further editted for reruns, though.<p>I actually watched the premiere of NYPD Blue way back then. I didn't know any of this stuff (partial nudity, profanity, etc) was going to be in it until I saw a full-page protest ad in the newspaper. Some Christian Family Values group was calling this show evil and highlighting all the naughty stuff in it. Then it jumped into bashing other shows. One had an instance of euthanasia, another had too teenage girls experimenting with lesbianism, one had a guy talking about masturbation, etc. They just on and on about how TV was ruining the family because series were adding these into episodes. The group listed exact episode names and numbers for all these examples, too.<p>But, the most amusing aspect of this whole thing, was that this ad prompted me to watch NYPD Blue that one time. And I would never have known if I hadn't seen that ad with all its example posted on the back of the comics section.
