In addition, this is not what I would call an attractive photo of T'Pol.
Going from the absurd to the tantalizing-there is a third photo. This photo shows masks for the Axanar, a species in the second episode. Could these Axanar be the same as the Axanar mentioned in "Whom Gods Destroy"? These latter Axanar were peaceful scientists and diplomats who lived on the fourth planet of the sun Axanar.
Oh no the sickbay looks too modern like something you would find on an amazing ship from the 32nd century Berman is evil and wants to steal my soul blah blah blah.

As for Sickbay looking too bright, that's actually a good thing. If the lighting is a close imitation of real sunlight, it's beneficial to human health and recovery. I saw a documentary on the Discovery Channel a couple years ago where a hospital in one of the Scandinavian countries was experimenting in piping in real sunlight through fiber optic cabling to the patients rooms to accelerate the healing process. At the time it looked promising.
On another note, if you're sick or recovering from almost having died, would you rather be in a dark and gloomy place or a bright and annoyingly happy place? If I just had a leg amputated, I'm going to be pretty depressed. Being in a dark and gloomy dungeon-like place would probably be the final push.

That's pure speculation on Okuda's part. In "Whom Gods Destroy," Kirk mentions that Garth was required reading at Starfleet Academy. He also refers to Garth's victory at Axanar. Later, he mentions that he "first visited Axanar as a new-fledged cadet," which might indicate that the Axanar Peace Mission was not at the same time as Garth's battle. Academic, really.

Presumably. Note that, in the original series, they never mentioned a species at all; Axanar was merely a planet. The fact that it had inhabitants has long been assumed in fandom, by both FASA and LUG. Now, Enterprise confirms it, though they look totally different.

We got some information of the Antosians - namely, they were capable fo this cellular metamorphosis that they gave Garth in order to help him recover from some injuries. Garth then perverted the technique into a means of camouflage, presumably some time after trying to blast Antos to bits. It's not known if he went crazy because of the technique, or because of his initial injuries, or if he was born crazy...
We got zippo on Axanarians, though. For all we know, Garth might have been fighting the Klingons, or the Suliban, over an uninhabited planet called Axanar. It still remains a possibility that Garth fought somebody else than the natives of Axanar.

It does look like that black bed on the left side is the main diagnostic bed. It's different from the other beds and the wall it retreats to seem to have more stuff on it than where the other beds meet the walls. It looks like it does slide out into the center of the bay. It also looks like the bed is adjustable to various positions since it has that slotted lawn-recliner-chair look to it.
