(as per the rather groovy DS9 Companion that I finally got around to perusing today. It would appear that Nicole deBoer does indeed have superior elocution to Messr. Brooks. And it was Ganges in the script, (hence the closed captions) but Gander was a last minute change following a heated argument over whether runabouts should be reincarnated)
