This ain't good. So what happens to Starfleet Museum???

Fuckedy-fuck-fuck. On the other hand, this does mean I get to be the reigning last winner of the EAE Website award, so. . . oh, what am I saying?! Bastards! Surely there's gotta be another provider offering unlimited traffic?
Posted by Charles Capps (Member # 9) on :
There's no such thing as unlimited traffic. It's a hoax.
I have a server that can handle it, but I'm not sure if Bernd'd be interested.
Posted by Bernd (Member # 6) on :
Strato was actually the only provider I knew that had unlimited traffic without clauses. And now they are sending me a letter with the untimely termination of the contract listing a couple of possible TOS violations including porn or fascist propaganda of which none applies.
I have already received a couple of suggestions and offers. What could be the deal, Charles?

Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!
This stinks. On those occasions when I've needed Treknology stuff, Bernd's site was the place to go.
*Begins swirling his eyes clockwise and speaking in spooky voice to hypnotise Bernd*
You will accept CC's offer... You will accept CC's offer...

Yes, Bernd's site is definitive in the world of online Treknology research.. probably what did it in: everybody went there whenever they needed anything.
I know it is complicated, but perhaps some type of mirror setup is required.. the large amounts of traffic divided up into a few mirror (or partner) sites would be more manageable.. i quite understand if Bernd is too upset to think of it now, but it is a possibility for getting himself back up and running

You don't suppose that Berman and Bragga got mad at the NX criticism that ended up in Entertainment Weekly?

I'm seriously shocked, Bernd. Given that my site is hosted by Strato as well, this does not bode well for the future...
I do hope you find a new place for your excellent compilation of Star Trek information very soon.

Bernd check your email, all is not lost.

This is all too sudden, but there's gotta be a way for something so useful to survive. The tech articles and the databases, including the corrected ship images, are the important part in my opinion. Although it's nice to have miscellaneous Fact Files images and the rest at hand, those can be easily found elsewhere (well, aside from the retouched images, but you know what I mean).
Good luck, Boris

Bernd - a friend of mine has a server that I help admin... he gives me space and bandwidth on it in return, all of which is currently unused.
I would be very willing (and able) to host the site, free of charge, on that server, or even on another one that my boss owns.
Psst, are you still using that ezboard?

Bernd: I do understand your distaste of splitting up the site... but perhaps it would be a good idea to mirror most of the site and then split off the ships and articles sections as well. This might cut some things down... I just dunno....

I split the site, and J edits all the absolute links after each update.
Actually, it's now or never that I must try to get the site hosted in one piece, with enough room for future updates.

Now it's back to the ol' Star Trek Ships: Expanded site.
Sorry, Bernd. We all loved your site. It must be a conspiracy at the hands of Paramount...

A sad day and my best wishes for the future of your fantastic work, may everything be back in one piece soon.

Yes Bernd... DON'T GIVE UP! You are an on-line inspiration.

TOS violations - now I KNOW that's not The Original Series ;o) is there anywhere we can protest their treatment of you!?!

Sorry to hear about the problems you are having
Hope you can find a solution before the site closes. Don't give up without exploring all your options!

Thanks for all the support so far! There were actually a few serious offers, and EAS may come back better than ever.
Posted by Bernd (Member # 6) on :
The international EAS domains will be back in a few days.
I just noticed that Bernd has been at this board pretty much since it's beginning, he's got #6... wow, no wonder we love EAS so much.
Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :
Well, the current incarnation of it, anyway.
Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :
Bernd's only got member number 6 because his name starts w/ a 'B'. The first seventy-some people who registered when Solarflare opened were rearranged into alphabetical order before being assigned member numbers.
And [Solar]Flare only dates back to '99. Most of those seventy-some people came over from SFCR, the board that this one more-or-less replaced. And SFCR replaced the old UP and TC boards. The "beginning" was actually in mid-'97. Only a few people here date back that far.
Posted by J (Member # 608) on :
Find out something about a person one day, and then learn the next it's a total sham.... How disappointing

Great Job, Bernd. I thought of registering with Strato a while ago...I definitely won't do that anymore.
Oh, and about the "old-timers". I'm almost an original too. Just why didn't I register earlier? I'll never know - might have been laziness.
