I was wondering if anyone had worked on making any detailed 2D schematic renderings or 3D renderings of the Phase II variant of the Constitution class.
Any links or images would be gratefully appreciated.

Doesn't look like it...
One of the people involved in producing Ships of the Star Fleet Vol 1 was lurking on these boards awhile back, under the forum name Aridas. Some of the designs in that book were obviously influenced by the Phase II design. Maybe he's still around.

Is that other message board really as horrible as Flareites have implied?

Damn straight it is. There's always some novel-thumping evangelist coming along and talking endlessly about how only TOS is true Star Trek and everything else is shit. And the mods are all power-tripping Nazis.

Since the model was never finished, I'd say the chances are slim to none that there are "detailed" schematics. The best you could hope for are probably whatever plans were being used to build the (never completed) Phase II ship seen in the book on Phase II.

All the Message Board politics keep me well away from that board- even when my models are linked in or discussed (and that's how I joined Flare).
Mabye when I meet Andy Probert in May, I'll makeup a Flare invitation for him. ...or I could become notorious by lopping off his hands! That'd kill Trek but quick!

TrekBBS is not that bad. Especially Tech and Art are pretty good. But the ENT board more than makes up for those two in awkardness.

I am looking more for something fan-generated... apparently, in doing some more research, there was a thread here about 2 or 3 years ago where something was posted, but all of the links are dead.

Well, then you should try to get your hands on Ships of the Star Fleet, Volume One and/or the Heavy Cruiser Evolution Chart. It has schematics of the Phase II model, and of the variation seen on some early production work (the 'poster' ship). The first one is called the Constitution (II) class, the second is the known as Tikopai in fandom circles.

Got'em. I am more looking for something along the lines of color computer based imagery in gif or jpeg format. Probably would have helped if I had specified that originally.

In the phase II design, the superstructure had a docking port on each side of the bridge. While planned, it never got onto the model, but the desk 14 torpedo bay of TMP, would have been the weapons deck on the phase II model, having both phaser batteries and torpedo launchers (I forget the source of that).
Here's a couple photos: http://home.comcast.net/~woozletrek/enterprise/PhaseII01.jpg http://employees.csbsju.edu/rsorensen/modelcitizen/trekships/constitution/c3side2.jpg

A pair of phaser banks on the "neck" facing due starboard/port would be a nice touch. Mabye a single forward facing torp launcher on there? It looks far too thin for two (unless they're vertically mounted- an idea I dig very much).

Wiz, have you forgotten your old password or something? If so, it can be mailed to you rather than you creating a new account.

Yep. That's me.
I'm wondering if any of you followed THIS thread over at the that other BBS some of you don't seem to like, on the art forum. A talented CGI artist was building the Phase II ship, and got it about 95% complete (no textures, though). It's based closely on the Phase II blueprints by Joe Jennings and Matt Jefferies that I have in my collection (and were the basis of the Constitution II in Ships of the Star Fleet) and are now posted on Phil Broad's website -- HERE.
I hope this information helps.

Problem is that I no longer have my original email account and when I tried to set up the new one, I goofed and Charles hasn't been able to correct it for me.

A friend of mine already offers a 2500th Phase II kit. And the Ringship...and Deadalus...and a Romulan War-era BOP...
My models are almost exclusivly from the Dominion War era: mixing in too many older ships looks....odd.

Very nice ideas in that link. I think the torpedo launcher would be better served with a single rectangular launcher instead of that cyclopean rounded version.
Bueatiful work on the nacelles.
