Here is a formerly ugly ship which I think looks much better after the re-design: http://www.uni-siegen.de/~ihe/bs/startrek/my_ships/caesar.htm

Hail, Caesar! Beware the ides of fairly small saucer sections!

Nice.

Kitty Hawk is the place in North Carolina where the Wright brothers flew their first plane.

Bernd: Well, yes, but the carrier was named for the place. That would be like asking "Who or what is 'Harry S Truman'?" and getting an answer of "an aircraft carrier". :-)

I'm kind of surprised someone didn't know what Kitty Hawk is. As in location, not the USS Kitty Hawk but I've been to both.

Well, Prakesh is in the Netherlands...

"Trekkies like to claim that Star Trek is 'hard science fiction'...in some extreme cases, they even go so far as to claim that it's all technologically feasible! Do they say this because they've analyzed the events of Star Trek for scientific accuracy? Not a chance - most of them don't know a coulomb from a joule, or the difference between Young's Modulus and Dave's burger special." - Mike Wong

Do they not fly aircraft in the Netherlands? Seems that the general history of flight isn't strictly an American subject... but all kidding aside, I had forgotten that Kitty Hawk was the Wright brothers' site as well, and only remembered the carrier. I'm no better.

*wonders if TSN knows who or what Wambundu is*

I seem to recall that someone figured out that the Wambundu are some tribe in South America or Africa, but I don't remember specifically...

Well, the web search for Wambundu is still without non-Trek result, so it is the only (UFP) starship with a really original, creative name

Not so fast, my Teutonic homey!!

MY wwweb search has INDEED turned up something re: the origins of the Wambundu name. I've had to lob off a couple emails first for clarification & finalization, but rest assured, once this hound's found a lead, he don't stop for nothin'!

When I get an answer, I'll release my findings; even if I DON'T get an answer, I'll release my findings, but they'll be a bit more vague. We'll see what the next day or so brings.....
