It's spam because the very first post the guy made is a link to his website. It makes no difference if it's artwork that's posted in the DAC forum, Charles' rules on this matter are quite clear.

Since this is the guy's first post, I think the sole purpose here is obvious. I'm making no judgment on the quality or interest of the material. (It's not to my taste, but that doesn't matter, IMO.) The point is that this guy is showing up, and the first thing he says is, "Hey guys, come see my website!" That's a no-no.

That's odd, I thought FlareUpload already was restricted to Senior Members. [Confused]

Anyway, I find myself agreeing with Jason and MinutiaeMan on this. The guy's first post is an advertisement. I can't take the statement "tell your friends" any other way.

To address the Mighty Monkey's point, longtime members are usually given a little more leeway in these things. One reason is that we can be reasonably sure that they'll stick around after making such a post. I'd be surprised if Midknight showed up again for any other reason besides complaining about his link getting snipped. Second, Senior Members tend to have a little more tact in their posts, rather than making them blatant advertising. If Sol or TSN or anybody else that's been around forever posted something like "Hey guys! Here's my new site! Go check it out and tell all your friends!" I'd still bust them on spam.

Temporarily reopened just to point out that Flare Upload is restricted. But that has nothing to do with people linking to stuff on their own site.
