Depends. I usually like the sudden turnover where some running back sacks the QB and takes the ball all the way to the end zone for a 80+ yard run.

How about some jarring tackles, interceptions, and great field goals. Not to mention a 110-yard reception to take the game into overtime.

*thinks*

You mean not THAT football? Oops.

Well, Soccer is probably exciting as well, when they have those great moments. I spent one weekend watching the Women's World Cup between USA and China. They duked it out and held each other to a scoreless tie, then the USA won on a shootout. I'll have to give the Chinese women a lot of credit for their tenacity and for not giving up during battle.

A lot of people watched that match between China and U.S. I went out to a Chinese restaurant with my family that day, and people in the restaurant were watching it. I say we have sports matches instead of war.

Let's see who gets the majority of medals at the Olympics this year before we decide on that one.

My dad and I are soccer referees. I've been doing it since I was 10 (so this is my 7th year of refereeing). I played before that. So, I got to like the sport! Too many damn people out there who have no clue what the rules are.

Get the ball into the other team's net w/o letting it touch your hands/arms. Anything else is technicalities, eh? *L*

Well there is more to football than just using feet. Football is very complicated game just ask someone to explain the off side rule. Over in the UK it generally percieved that the US although they staged the world cup in 94 the game is not very popular compared to the likes of american football, baseball. I wonder if this is true or is football more popular since 94.

Soccer in the U.S. still isn't very popular. I have a friend who's a soccer fan, and she could easily get front row seats at the Rose Bowl for a soccer game because the place is pretty empty. She told me the players get $30,000 a year, but I don't know if that's for a starting player or a veteran. Still, what kind of chump change is that compared to a football player's salary?

The problem for futbol is that we in the US grow up playing Football, Baseball and Basketball. In the last thirty years, soccor has made some inroads, and kids are beging to play more and more. I think in the next 50 years, that it will pick up many fans, and maybe in 100 years, it will be the #1 sport here, as it is in the rest of the world. I don't think I'd ever heard of it till Pele came here in the seventies.

Baseball, Basketball and Football are slowly killing themselves, mostly by fighting over money. Baseball is gearing up for another strike, I think next year. After the last one, I almost stoped watching Baseball. The great Home Run chase, with Magire and Sosa got me watching games again, but games are lasting longer and longer, and ticket prices are getting out of hand. There are about four good teams this year, and a lot of also rans. Atlanta and New York Yanks will most likely play the series again this year, with the mets and white sox giving them a run for their money, but it's not like it was in the fifties, when Baseball ruled. Same goes for American Football. Maybe four good teams, and everybody else. The thing with football is, you never know which will be the good teams. Just look at the Rams last year.

I think soccer has definatly grown in American somewhat since 1994, with the creation of the MLS (Major League Soccer). I know around Chicago the Chicago Fire are extremly popular (since, besides the White Sox, they're the only winning team they have). And I believe all the MLS teams are equally matched. I mean, 1 goal can make a game.

Ahem, ahem my friend. You seem to have forgotten the Blackhawks. They're certainly a championship squad. *cough* Thiebault is amazing, and was most certainly worth Patrick Roy in 1996. *cough*.
