In the couple weeks it's been open, the Enterprise forum has had 2400 posts.

In the couple years it's been open, the Voyager forum has had 3800 posts.

Is this a Good Thing?

Only if Voyager's forum was running pre-Voyager.... since it would need the speculation about the series to compete....

Voyager sucked.

However, Enterprise might suck.

Therefore, reaffirming my long held position that there is no such thing as bad publicity.

The Enterprise forum has been around for closer to a month, but the comparison is still valid. Part of the reason is that the Voyager forum did not exist prior to the release of Voyager. Thus, it lost out on the whole "Is Voyager is good design?" "Berman and Braga are evil for proposing this series," and other similar threads that Enterprise is being subjected to.

It seems to me that Enterprise is the first Trek series to be born and exposed fully to the internet from its inception to its delivery and (ultimately) to its death. I may be wrong, but the internet wasn't as massive a presence in daily life as it is now. So that's probably the main reason for the post variance.

On another note, how much longer is the Voyager forum going to be around until it's turned into a read-only forum like Deep Space Nine? Is it going to get a moderator until that time? When is Enterprise going to get a new moderator? That no one guy is doing a pretty lousy job, in my opinion.

Enterprise could have been like Andromeda. Before Andromeda premiered, there was a site that had the backstory to the whole show on it. It had databases of all the ships, articles on the planets and members of the Commonwealth, all kinds of neat stuff. Too bad they didn't take advantage of the internet for Enterprise.

I think that Paramount knew that fans of Star Trek have internet access and will make up so much speculation and hype that when it finally premieres, a whole bunch of people will be watching. Ah...the joys of advertising...

Well, if Paramount put a website up with all kinds of information from the series, then we'd have some huge canon arguements (notice almost all the stuff on the Andromeda site is never mentioned on the show). We know how Paramount is with Trek canon, and doing a big info site wouldn't work.

Jeff: I say again, there's no such thing as GOOD publicity. GOOD publicity, I repeat. All publicity is BAD.

You should see the Enterprise forum at Trekbbs. The bashing went into full swing from day one. I feel for their mods.

Ya know, JeffKardde... you have a lot of nerve bashing Voyager and Enterprise on a STAR TREK FORUM.

Those TrekBBS'ers need to learn not to be so quote-happy. Most of them are quoting the previous poster's ENTIRE post before responding, sometimes immediately after the poor guy posted. What, do they think people's attention spans are that short, or that no one will know what they're talking about unless they repeat the post word for word?

And now do you recognise the ONE good thing we've got here? Even Omega's spelling and grammer is above internet forum standard (worringly).

JeffR: When did JeffK slam Enterprise? He's been fairly positive so far, IIRC.

Yes, you're despicable, and... and picable... and... and you're definitely, definitely despicable. How a person can get so despicable in one lifetime is beyond me. It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.

"Even Omega's spelling and grammer is above internet forum standard...."

Would the Internet Grammer standard be Kelsey, or another Grammer?

"Ya know, JeffKardde... you have a lot of nerve bashing Voyager and Enterprise on a STAR TREK FORUM."

Seems the most logical place to do so. I mean, where do you expect him to bash Trek? On the Large Penis Support Group board? In a letter to the editor of the Christian Science Monitor? Seems to me that, if you're going to talk about Trek (positively or negatively), a Trek message board is the most appropriate location.
