OK, I was at Bernd's site and saw this picture... I was wondering what is the 'mockup' model hanging on the wall in the background on the right, to the left of that light-on-a-stand?

They use them when setting up shots or planning shots don't they?

Its the beige coloured ship. If it's a 'stand-in' for another ship... which one!?! It sorta looks Ambassadorish...

It looks like the aft end of the Karemman freighter to me... If that's what you mean.

It could be either one.

Mind you, that's not a "real" model. It's simply a crude foamcore "placement model" used for basic adjustment & matting shots; that's also what the rest of the white things on the wall are.

I'm talking about the white foam core models, yes - but see most of them have a similar shape to their ships... except the one I mentioned, which sort of looks like an Ambassador class, but the secondary hull is quite tapered, back towards the 'shuttlebay'?

It probably IS the Ambassador
Remember that for planning or matteing, the foamcore ship only needs the largest dimensions of its fibreglass counterpart - that is to say, it has to create a film "hole" the same size from any angle - so the two don't look alike. Remind me to dig up a pic of the ones for Voyager and DS9...

My first guess would be the back end of an Olympic-Class ship. The middle part looks like the tapered aft section, and the nacelles appear properly placed... but the pylons are wrong.

It can't be a Karemman freighter, because the freighter has some really weird curved pylons and a wide aft section (compared to the front). I'd rule that one out.

Both the pylons AND the nacelle placement are incorrect for that to be an Olympic-class. On the Olympic, the nacelles do not end aft of the secondary hull, but before. By about, fifty to one-hundred feet is my guess. The shape of the nacelles shown is screwed up too. Some funny flanges and curves. The Olympic-class nacelles were pretty much square.

Perhaps it's something they started but never got around to finishing? Or a mock-up of something? My knowledge of model-making is about nil, so I'm probably wrong on those counts.

It's the Kammie ships because if you look at the nacelles they have flat ends towards the wall. The ship schematics and pictures of the Kammie ship show that the ship has a flat side on the under side of the nacelle.

Now if anyone can understand that...

So what else can we identify in that pic?

The actual models are easy. From near to far: Negh'Var (upside down), Bajoran freighter, Cardassian freighter, and behind the modelmaker the partial model for the Starfleet HQ building (to be combined with matte paintings and pictures of the Tillman Water Reclamation Plant).

The foamcores are not quite so readily identifiable. Next to the drill must be the butt end of the Karemman ship. Behind the modelmaker is a Vor'Cha foamcore facing up, with the triangular "Valerian/Boslic freighter" (originally Talarian warship) sans its x-wings facing down to the upper right. But what is the tiny model to the right of this freighter? And what is the thing to the left of the Vor'Cha? It's like a distorted version of the Vulcan freighter (also used as the Tosk ship) - not seen from directly up, but from a forward angle. And to the left of THAT...?

To the left of the modeler's head is a big Jem'Hadar battlebug, with a possible Galaxy saucer between it and the modeler. Then there's a lot of semi-obscured stuff I can't identify at all...

Yeah, Jein looks like Buck Bokai (no really, he used his own picture on the original Buck Bokai trading card.

Also, reguarding the ship I was talking about --- It looks nothing like the Karemma vessel... maybe I explained what I was looking at incorrectly.

1. Back wall.
2. The colourless foamcore mockups
2. On our right of Ron B. Moore
3. Above the central nacelle? of the Klingon ship
4. You can see two nacelles and an engineering section. We've never seen any 'fleet ship that looks like this have we? It looks sorta Ambassadory...

If this is a Karemma vessel, then can someone post a picture of the Karemman vessel, as I've forgotten what they look like.

Well, it doesnt look like a karemman vessel to me either. Here are the two variants I have:
