Not really things I dislike as much as mistakes (yes, I actually notice these, it's sad). I think most folks noticed the fact that in the 2k2 calendar they forgot to change all teh name textures, so that "Enterprise" still sppeared on non-Enterprise Galaxy class ships... Well, they did it again this year!

February, On the Lexington's starbord nacelle has the right registry number, but the port nacelle still says 1701, and probably Enterprise beneath it (the word looks longer than "Lexington" on the starboard one). How do they miss these? How do you go so far as to change the starboard nacelle, but forget about the port one?

A side note about this month, am I nuts, or are the blue domes on top of the nacelles new? I never recall seeing those ever before...

In March (my birth month!), shouldn't the Enterprise be firing on the Planet killer and the smashed up Constellation be flying into the maw?

They appear more apparent in the calendar, but they are there. I believe they're red on the Miranda Class though.

Not at the end of the episode when Kirk on the Constellation is trying to distract the Planet Killer from devouring the Enterprise.

In the asteroid encounter pic, the longer window on C Deck is rectangular instead of having rounded contours. The Lexington is also showing it to have a gangway hatch on the starboard side when the filming miniature clearly only had one on the portside. I'm disappointed with just how CGI it looks as well...look at the 'rounded' dark area on the Enterprise's starboard nacelle...there's definitely jagged contours from the CGI where the detail should be perfectly rounded. I guess the CG model shouldn't be seen that close-up.

The April Voyager pic had the under-saucer registry without the proper red outline the filming miniature had.

The CGI Excelsior in the calendar and on the cover has numerous errors compared to the filming miniature: no name registry at all, neck partitions should be greater in number, the Starfleet pennant is too far back and too large, the nacelles are lit like in several DS9 shows, but not from the movies.

This got me really intrigued. I originally assumed it was just the modeler saying, "oo, let's put some more candy here for the fans!". So I went on an image hunt. StarTrek.com was a bust. So I went looking for studio models, since they're about as canon as it gets.

These guys had some nice shots of the studio model.

And even clearer here:

found here:

I figure that the it's a little too large in the caledar pic, and the particular angle of the calendar shot brings it to the forefront to be noticed.

Ok, now I vaguely remember. Maybe it's time to go watch that episode again...

I believe that those blue domes on the nacelles are called Maganotomic Aplification Crystals. My birth month is also March. [Wink]

Additionally, under the nacelle registry number is the legend "United Federation of Planets" on both ships.

Yes, reguards the blue 'domes'... there is a lovely picture of the Refit Ent from TMP in The Art of Star Trek, from behind with a beautiful look at it's pearlescent hull plating the ship is in a purple light... and you can see the blue domes.

I love how Reliant has super-evil red running lights as soon as Kahn takes it over.

A very GI JOE decision by the aret department.

never noticed... running lights - you mean the red and green blinking lights or the spot lights or some other lights?

Re: Miranda-Class. If you watch "Sacrifice of Angels", I think you'll see that both cannon-fodder Mirandas that get shot off Defiant's sides have colored nacelles ... red at the collectors, and blue at the back.

I mean the spotlights in the scene where Reliant first nails Enterprise: the two spotlights near the bridge glow an ominous red.
When they're in the nebula there's the idea that the gasses could color things but not in that first encounter.

Every time we see the Miranda model after, the lights are all white.

Well, yes the Sitak and Majestic both have blue glowing warp grilles, but there's no red Bussard collectors there, just the usual black.

The Reliant does have purposeful 'evil' red lights such as the one emanating from the brideg to denote it's evilness. That's in the TrekII:DE DVD commentary.

I know the pic you mean, and yes, the domes there are still properly blue, but it's not the TMP Enterprise. It's probably the one MagiCam built before Wise took over...there are many differences:

The bridge is a different shape.
The B and C decks have different details.
There is red striping around the warp grilles.
There is red striping around the saucer rim.
There is red striping around the saucer at the level the phasers are.

This Enterprise is the version and detailing in the picture on the cover to "Mr. Scott's Guide", not the final TMP version Enterprise.

Look carefully and you will notice the bussard collectors are lit a dull red.

I hope you two weren't referring to the copper colored part ahead of the grille but still on the side of the nacelle. If so, they are not lit, nor have they ever been, and they have been that same copper color on the Enterprise and Reliant since TMP and TWOK. The best shot to see it on the Reliant is just before it heads into the Mutara Nebula. So it's not red at all, it really is colored 'copper'.

Here's a pic from Trek II showing the copper:
