Over the next month or so, I will be acquiring an 8x4x32 CD-RW drive, a scanner, a Thinkpad 560x laptop, and a Handspring Visor Deluxe PDA. I love having a job. Life is good.

Now if these things only attracted women...

I have a '98 Jeep Wrangler. I make between $500 - $600 a week (and I go to college full time!) Once finals are over, I will again be a bar hoppin' fool, and perhaps something will actually happen between me and Christine. I'm moving to a one-bedroom apartment in the spring. A semi-non-fiction slash semi-fiction story I wrote about 9/11 has a good chance of being published in an anthology the University of Maryland is putting together to help benefit the victims of 9/11.

For the past two years, I've had a regular CD-ROM drive, a flatbed color scanner, a Gateway Solo 2500 laptop, and mini-legal pad with mechanical pencil. I also make $225 a week and drive a '98 Saturn SL2. I hope to be sharing a cheap apartment with a friend by the start of summer.

Once finals are over, I'm going to spend some quality time updating my website, maybe paying and setting up my own domain name, and working on a series of stories dealing with either Star Trek or my experiences working in the dorms (I haven't decided which would give me the greatest satisfaction).

I've learned that nothing material attracts the right women. Material possessions only bring out the shallow little b****s who do nothing but use you for their heinous purposes and lead you on and destroy any and all spark of esteem that you might have had.

Omega: That 8x4x32 CD-RW drive isn't an Acer, is it? If so, just go ahead and flush your money down the toilet. It'll be as useful...

I bought a CD-RW drive - took 4 months before I used it, used it about 5 times (copied 5 CD's). I've heard that while the lower speed write drives are slow, they are more accurate and the data will not suffer from degrading as much as the others - also the quality will be better.

As for my life at the moment:

In my final year (I hope) at De Montfort University - christ what a dump. They don't give a shit about you, only your money. I've entered a writing competition (not much chance of me winning a thing mind you). Also plan to enter a few more and continue writing my novels that have been on the go for 11+ years!!!!! Well, the most recent redesign has been only 3-5 years . . .

After Uni. I plan to get a full-time job -

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

And to top it all off, we might be moving house in the next few months - oh joy!

Hell, I'll go for it.

My life at the moment:

I go to high school, grade 12. I make between $150-$300 bi-weekly, depending on how many hours they give me to work (Christmas bonus next pay - yay!). I'm (not so) patiently awaiting the paperwork for my 88 Ranger to get finished so I can drive it. I have a 2 year old Compaq Presario 5477 that has served me well. The printer that came with it two Christmases ago has since fried, and my scanner and burner don't work with Windows 2000 (drivers & programs for them aren't new enough). And, of course, my personal website which was supposed to chronicle my life got stalled long ago which always happens. Never bothered to work on it...

akb: I don't think that should be true. If your writer has a write speed of, say, 8x, and you use CDs that are rated for at least 8x, it should work perfectly. If not, there's probably something wrong.

Or am I mistaken?

Hi, I'm new here. *waves*

My life: Currently just working. At Wal-Mart. Pleh. Going back to school again in February, hope to be done by December 2002. As soon as I graduate, will trek up north to Chicago and try to land a good job in a nice law firm. Then with the help of a *REAL* close friend, move.

Until then, I will just keep writing for my enjoyment. Maybe someday for profit..

Hm... Either Shik's delving into the territory of rape, or he's got someone under the age of sixteen in his bed...

Lee: Should I even ask why you seem to be inviting MaGiC to your honeymoon?

Age on consent varies from state to state. I think some have it as low as 14.

Oh, this thread just developed some potential...

let's list the possibilities...

Could be forceful...
Could be under the allowable age (which also varies if either partner is over or under 18)...
Could be a family member...
Could be another species...
Could be a partner or activity banned by local statute (kinda like oral is in some states)...

I smell an Interrogation thread... or mass smackdowns by a moderator.

Can I come on the honeymoon too? Me and Magic can go and play in the arcades or something while you realise that sex instantly becomes shit the second after you say "I do".

Apparently.

I actually kind of find it funny that a thread started by Omega has become a thread questioning Shik's tawdry sexual practices and relationships.

Erhm. Didn't say I like my job...I put up with it. *LOL* Spend many hours chanting "one more year, one more year..."

And thanks for the Welcome.

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

Well, Shik did say it was highly illegal, which would suggest it's not one of those stupid unenforce[d|able] laws like the ones against oral sex, and such.

And, of course, the comment of "you can't rape the willing" is pointless. If that were the situation, it wouldn't be rape, so it wouldn't be illegal. But, still he seems to be ruling that one out.

So, we're reduced to pedophilia, incest, bestiality, or some combination thereof.

Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :

Tim: if you gotta ask, then you'll never understand, you're far too innocent. }B)

Actually, the invite is to the wedding party in the evening; we're limited for numbers for the actual ceremony and reception. No problem for the evening do however, we're looking at about 200 people. Liam, you're invited too!

Posted by Omega (Member # 91) on :

A combination of incest and bestiality? Um...

Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :

Surprisingly, I agree with Omega. That's exactly what I thought when I learned both Liam and MaGic were invited to Lee's wedding party.

"And they all chanted: 'Dopey fucked a penguin...'"

No?

Oh, well.

TSN you be absolutely correct. I had neglected that fact, but when buying I was told this and decided that I should go for the best possible quality. Obviously I did not have all of the facts at the time - I'm not that technical when it comes to computers. I am planning (some time in the future) to go on a course to help me overcome this shortcoming. But I also think that the CD-RWs that support a higher write speed are more expensive - anyone in the UK want to confirm/slag off that fact?

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

StarFire and welcome to Flare. We're all a bit mad here (at least I think so), but that's a healthy thing. Ah, the number of times that I've laughed while reading something on this forum . . . countless - very good for your health! Such as this topic - all this talk about illegal sexual activities and what-not - highly amusing. I want to know what it is too!

Oh, and enough bragging about size please - "larger than a breadbox" indeed! Please! Not everyone is that small!

HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE!

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

Umm... You do realize that 1) it's no longer Halloween and 2) that the pumpkin picture has been circulating on the internet for years right?

Going back to the guessing game, I'm willing to put a five dollar bet on Shik coming into posession of a time machine and keeps going back in time to have sex with himself. Some states still have laws against homosexual encounters, and this could be considered incest since he and his partners genetic codes are from the same branch of the family tree. Plus, he is bigger than a breadbox!

The only problem is that I can't quite figure out how to fit the bestiality into that theory. Of course, he could be using the time machine to have sex with an earlier self and Mrs. Cartman and a few animals at South Park's annual drunken barn dance.

Time travel is illegal!

Well ,the picture is new to me.. i just found it and it seemed a really appropriate random conversation piece.. seems likely its been around the block a few though.

Wait! Is gonig back in time and having sex with yourself incest? Sounds like it should be illegal!

Thanks. One day I'll post the whole story of the wedding-plan saga, when I get round to it. Suffice to say that after all the other stuff there's a big party at a local cricket club on the evening of Saturday 4th May, and we're inviting everyone we can actually think of (and like) and can make it to East London for a party. Around here that comes down to MaGiC (and G, natch), Liam (plus one if ness. but let's face it, that's not gonna happen), Monty and Orion.

"...Liam (plus one if ness. but let's face it, that's not gonna happen)"

Oi!

Ah, fuck it. You're right. Although I've never been the sort who would drag another friend (girl or not) to a party full of people she'd never met (although meeting Lee is surely a life changing experience for most of us).

Will there be cake?

Oh really? Well considering that I'm not as well versed in IT stuff and how to do even 1% of the things that you lot do - I think that my use is well within limits. So

And why is everyone taking it out on the smilies? They didn'y do anything to you - did they? (Gasps) Are they part of some evil conspiracy or something???
